DENNIS KUCINICH ELECTRIFIES WORKER'S RIGHTS RALLY IN WISCONSIN

Saturday, March 12, 2011, I happened to catch our Ohio (10th District) Congressman Dennis Kucinich speaking at a Worker's Rally in Wisconsin. He electrified the audience. It was awesome.

I wrote down some of his speech (and you can hear Congressman Kucinich speech in my March 12th post); however, today I discovered that magnificent speech on YouTube (below).

Highlights from Congressman Kucinich's speech:

"We are at the beginning of a New Civil Rights movement."

"We fight back for our Democracy
We fight back for our Constitution
We fight back for freedom of speech,
for the right to assemble,
for the right to freedom of association,
We fight back for due process"

"Corporations want to steal what they feel is theirs to begin with. They don't believe in such a thing as government of the people. What they believe in is government of the corporations, by the corporations, for the corporations. That might work on Wall Street; but it's not going to work in Wisconsin, and it's not going to work in Ohio, and it's not going to work in Michigan."

"We will fight back."

"We are for workers everywhere ... to have a right to join a union, to have a right to collective bargaining, to have a right to strike, to have a right to decent wages and benefits, and a right to a secure retirement, to have a right to a safe work place, to have a right to participate in the political process, to have a right to reclaim their government."

"What we understand is that an economic democracy is a pre-condition to a political democracy."

"Government belongs not to the private sector, but to the public sector."
