THE UNITED STATES DECLARATION AND CONSTITUTION OF CONSERVATIVES

UPDATE 9/23/2010: watch video #4 - JIM RUSSELL (R)

UPDATE 9/18/2010, 11:22PM, added another video (#3)

I've learned quite a bit over the last 48 hours. I learned why Republicans lie, and create fear and cause anxiety, and confusion.
-
Want to know why? ...
-
The reason is, ... Conservatives don't want you to know what they truly believe.
-
They believe that
:

1. Everyone is not created Equal
2. Everyone is not Welcome Here / and
3. No you cannot practice Freedom of Religion, only what we say you can practice, and

4. Everyone does not have the right to vote. The one group of people that they don't want to have a right to vote ... is poor people; and the other groups are certain Hispanics (that they call anchor babies) and American Muslims.

WHO THE HELL IS THIS IDIOT RENACCI?

WHO THE HELL IS THIS IDIOT (JIM RENACCI - REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE - OHIO 16TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT )?

Just found out: "Renacci has been criticized for his comments on civil rights stating that the federal government should not be involved in matters of civil rights. He stated that the local governments are responsible for the issues of civil rights. This caused a lot of backlash being that only the federal government has been able to positively effect civil rights issues in the United States and in many cases the local governments have been the antagonists." O'REILLY GIVES BACK HAND APOLOGY TO SHIRLEY SHERROD

So much for O'Reilly's apologies to Mrs. Sherrod. WEAK!!

"Though O’Reilly acknowledged that when he called for Sherrod’s resignation he hadn’t done his “homework,” he went on to make a case for why she’s still “ineligible to serve in the government.” His reasoning: She’s a “long-time liberal activist” who sued the Department of Agriculture and won $300,000, and her controversial speech shows “blatant partisanship.”

Well, excuse me. Just because Mrs. Sherrod is and has been a civil rights activist (a title that is admirable) fighting for those little guys who have had their civil rights violated, does not mean she is a racist ... And since when is it against the law to sue if you have a good case?

And let me see ... is Bill implying that only Independents should serve in government?

Shirley also called em like she saw em. Republicans have called for President Obama to fail. Thank you Shirley for rebuking the tactics and rhetoric of Republicans who seek to thwart her (and our) president's agenda (an agenda he was elected on).

Shirley Sherrod has a unique sensitivity and first hand experience dealing with the racism that exists within the Department of Agriculture. I imagine it was that sensitivity and experience that led to Mrs. Sherrod's appointment.

Mrs. Sherrod is loyal to a Democratic president (as she should be, and should make no apologies for). She was and is uniquely qualified to serve in that department.

Blatant partisanship? O'Reilly (I guess) doesn't have a problem with Republican or conservative anti-choicers who serve or served in government. He didn't and doesn't criticize them.

Give me a break Bill, your partisanship is showing ...

SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THE FAR RIGHT OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY

Karl Rove wrote the play book. Just smear people and tell lies over and over again and the “nuts” and “not so nuts” will believe you (probably because they want to believe you). The Republicans succeeded with their “lie” and “smear” campaign and we got 8 years of Bush and Cheney (Iraq and its accompanying loss of American and innocent Iraqi lives; warrantless wiretaps; torture; financial meltdown and massive job layoffs).

And now that
play book is being used to defeat President Obama (in 2012) and his agenda, even though the American people clearly and dramatically voted for him; and then topped it off by electing a majority of Democrats in the House and Senate.

This is not to be taken lightly. These tactics can get people killed. I say that because a large number of people that now make up the Republican Party are very unstable.

This fringe group is filled with hate and they are dangerous and possibly bear investigation, but definitely bear watching. These kinds of people were responsible for assassinating
John and Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. These kinds of people were responsible for murdering Emmett Till and Medgar Evers and brave souls who fought inequality, oppression, injustice and racism in the South.

Last night the president addressed a
Joint Session of Congress and the American people. FOX News Channel decided not to air the speech. Can you believe it? A major news network did not show the president’s speech. Other major stations and networks carried the speech; yet, FOX didn’t and then lied about what the president said. Well, I guess if you didn’t hear the speech, you might believe the kooks at FOX news.

On Tuesday, the president addressed school children. The conservatives yelled that the president was trying to indoctrinate the children into
socialism. Some parents and schools decided not to show the speech (and some parents kept their children home from school). The children who did watch, said they enjoyed the speech and admired the president. They couldn't understand what the whole "don't watch the president craziness" was about.

No other president has received this amount of disrespect so early in his presidency; and the president has done nothing to deserve such treatment.

Other countries are watching us and are appalled by these “kooks” behavior.

The people that these “kooks” rail against (the socialists) have the healthiest people, the cleanest air, the most educated (and its free), the most upward class mobility, the least crime, and they have quality, affordable, comprehensive universal health care.

I hope it will not take a national tragedy to stop this fringe group. Now is the time for good people to speak up and rebuke the lies, to take their neighbors to task if they hear lies from their neighbor’s lips. Now is the time to rally for health care reform, financial reform, and a
GREEN economy and to focus on positive solutions and to be kind, just, ethical and moral.

A Week of Health Care Reform Discussions, Governor Rick Perry, Citizen's Rights, and Racial Tug of War

Week in Review:
-
It's been an interesting, yet frustrating week for those of us who were watching the news and following the debates and discussions about health care reform, and then having to shift to discussions about race and police treatment of African American males and discussions about the pent up emotions and tensions that fester between the African American community and the police.

Let's Be Honest About the Gates vs Crowley Matter

This is amazing to me. A lot of white people are lining up ready to defend the police; yet with the election of Barack Obama, millions of white people rush out and purchase guns because they fear that their civil and consitutional rights will be eroded by government. The police are the government, and I would bet that anarchists, libertarians, NRA members, etc. would have done exactly what professor Gates did (which was to get upset). You are a man in your own home (property rights), you’ve done nothing wrong, and you don’t want anyone telling you what to do in your own home.
As far as the African American community is concerned, and members of minority groups around the world are concerned, they all fear the police; and everyone fears police states.
So let's be honest about who we side with in this instance and why we side with them.

Some White Folks Gone Wild

WILL ALL THE RACISTS PLEASE COME OUT OF THE CLOSET

PAT BUCHANAN
Pat being a racist is not really news, but his coming apart at the seams over the nomination of Sonia Sotomayor and her rejection of the New Haven firefighters claim, is noteworthy. Pat really let loose on the Rachel Maddow show July 16th; I think he might have blown a hair plug or two (sorry, my bad).

Wacky Pat seems to think that White men built this nation and they are all under attack by the ubiquitous affirmative action police. If you feel like laughing out loud … now is the time.

-
THE BIRTHERS
Recently saw some woman screaming some conspiracy theory regarding the authenticity of President Obama’s birth certificate. See, we intelligent people know that this whole “birth certificate thing” is really just a roundabout way of calling the President the “N” word.
Could this group be “Pat Buchanan gone wild”?
WATCH VIDEO

LOU DOBBS (MEDIA MATTERS VIDEO)
Lou Dobbs revealed his racism during Barack Obama’s campaign. Y’all remember his vitriol, his constant rantings about ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now)? Lou, I never knew anyone could hate poor people so much.

Well, not having succeeded in derailing Barack Obama’s move to the White House, Lou is at his wits end and has joined with the Birthers. Why, oh why, President Obama, don’t you settle this thing by showing us your birth certificate?! Mmm … done that, didn’t stop Lou who just doesn’t understand why the “white guy” didn’t win the presidential election.

About seven months ago, Ted Turner, CNN founder, asked Lou why he always looked like he was about to blow a gasket (my words, not Ted’s). Lou took note about his snarls and growls and it appears he may have been botoxed, or peeled and face-lifted; however, that darn racist thing just won’t go away.

CONGRESSMAN BILL POSEY
Rep. Bill Posey, R-Florida, introduced legislation (H.R. 1503) on March 12, 2009 requiring candidates to produce a birth certificate to be eligible to run in future presidential elections.
Yep, Congressman, we get it … you’re a racist … but it’s not politically correct to say the "N" word, so instead a bunch of your racist Republicans have decided to draft what amounts to "Jim Crow" legislation (in the midst of the worst economic crisis and health care legislation).

Does anyone know if “The Family” (C STREET HOUSE) has any black members? (SMILE) Just some more White Folks gone wild?

THE SHORT LIVES OF BLACK MALES

My father died at the age of 52. At that time he was the only remaining brother of a family of 11 siblings. All his brothers died before the age of 60.
-
My father was a WWII veteran, a good man, a great father, and I was so proud of him; and even though he only had an 8th grade education, he could build a car from the chassis up and he was a whiz at electronics.
-
Back in the day, just about every male smoked cigarettes. You weren’t cool if you weren’t posturing with a “cig” between your lips. No one knew at that time that cigarettes could lead to cancer and emphysema and other respiratory illnesses and diseases. Cigarette and alcohol advertisers often targeted minority communities. My father smoked unfiltered Chesterfields and he had high blood pressure; and in his late 40’s he contracted emphysema.
-
A year before he died, my father made a strange statement. He said that if he couldn't smoke, he didn't want to live. WOW ...my father could hardly climb the stairs because of the emphysema, but yet, ... he said that if he couldn't smoke, he didn't want to live. I didn't understand it until years later. I think my father lived a very stressful life.
-
African American families usually don’t talk about the deaths of their sons and husbands for there exists a long and painful history and African American mothers and wives, while deeply concerned, try not to focus on the truth of their sons and husbands short lives.

My family has not seen my brother in almost 10 years. I certainly haven’t. I don’t think about it much and my mother simply says that perhaps he will contact us when he is ready. There appears to be an older Caucasian woman who knows how to reach him, and we simply accept that fact, though my mother hasn’t spoken to him.

My brother, a former ADA in Brooklyn, New York, has simply disappeared off the face of the earth and we say nothing. What are we afraid of? Could he be in prison or dead?
-
Though my brother was an Assistant District Attorney and a law abiding citizen, he was stopped by police on more than one occasion. The last time he was stopped, he and my mother were at a shopping mall; the police said he looked like someone they were looking for. Can you imagine how humiliated he felt with my mother watching?
-
I’ve asked my mother many times to hire a private investigator to find out where my brother is, what he is doing, etc … she retreats to her faith in Jesus Christ and leaves it up to him. I think this is insane, but I’m not looking for him either. I did years ago, but presently, I’m simply left to speculation.

The short lives of Black males are a reality for many families. I’m not sure how we deal with it; but we seem to exist in a state of denial.

We often trace this reality back to slavery and the enormous stress that most Black males lived under and still do live under. Many Black males have even accepted the fact that they may not see old age, some that they may not even see the age of 20.

Why are we not hearing more of an outcry surrounding these blatant truths? Why are we not focused on addressing this human tragedy?

June 25, 2009, Michael Jackson died at the age of 50. All we seem focused on is his troubled past, the bizarre nature of his death and his music legacy. This is the perfect opportunity to look at the causes surrounding the short life span of Black males, and how those short lives impact our neighborhoods, our families, our young people [especially young Black males] and the way we conduct our lives. This is the perfect time to have that discussion that we as a family and Nation have been avoiding.

Yesterday Ex-NFL QB Steve McNair was slain in his downtown condominium. Another Black male struck down in his prime. Where is the anguish? Where is the discussion we yearn for [concerning the short lives of Black males]? Have we just acquiesced and surrendered to the fact that Black males will not live out a full and meaningful life?

We know many Black males drop out of school, end up unemployed, end up in poverty, end up in prison, end up in gangs, end up in poor health, are gunned down by police, … and the list goes on and on.

Do we simply chalk these things up to/ and the Black males' short life span up to risky and irresponsible behavior or racism, etc. without any discussion and quickly move on? If this is true, then I am deeply troubled for our families, for this Nation, … and yes, for our beautiful Black males.
-
-
UPDATE: Since posting an excerpt from this article on the Huffington Post this morning, I've received numerous replies. Most of the comments are not unforeseen. Most wanted to blame Black males for their irresponsible behavior rather than looking at why Black males have shorter life spans, and why many Black males engage in behaviors that lead to their untimely death.
-
It is my belief that, because of discrimination, Black males react to stress differently than White males; thereby causing the Black male to act out in a destructive way, rather than deal with their stress in a more rational, positive way. I can't even imagine the kind of stress that Michael Jackson had to deal with; and I’m sure McNair lived a very stressful life and was subject to the kinds of discrimination that my brother was subjected to.
-
“For a black man, a stress response to discrimination can be triggered by something as subjective as feeling suspicious eyes on him in a department store. “That can be annoying,” says Michael Johnson, 38, of Inglewood. “You know you’ve got money in your pocket to pay, and somebody is following you around. We’ve all felt that. But you get so used to it, you’re numb to it.”

In one of the first studies to examine the effect of discrimination on lifestyle behaviors, researchers looked at 3,300 adults, black and white, from a range of income groups, ages 18 to 30, and followed them for 15 years. The study, published in the Aug. 13 American Journal of Epidemiology Advanced Access, found that 38% of whites reported feeling discriminated against in housing, education or work, while 89% of blacks reported such feelings of discrimination.
-
Regardless of income or race, all who felt discrimination were more likely to have unhealthy behaviors, including smoking, drinking and use of marijuana. “When people feel they’re treated unfairly,” says Dr. Luisa Borrell, professor of epidemiology at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health and author of the study, “they’re going to find a way to cope with that unfair treatment.”
-
Stress of racism, people feel and respond to discrimination in similar ways, though the experience of discrimination is more common to blacks. Among blacks, it’s more commonly felt among men, the researchers found.”

Susan Brink goes on to say:
-
“The shorter life expectancy of black men has been an inflexible truth since slavery. The gap has slowly narrowed throughout the last century, and the most recent improvement is attributed to lower accident and homicide rates, along with life-sustaining treatments for AIDS, all of which afflict a greater proportion of black men.
-
Still, heart disease, stroke, hypertension, diabetes, obesity and most cancers strike black men sooner, and cut them down more often, than white men. And the higher incidence of disease among black men is set against a backdrop of an increased incidence of poverty, which carries with it a multitude of health problems.
-
Violence, including accidents and homicide, lays its claim on black men early. Homicide is the leading cause of death for black men ages 15 to 34, followed by unintentional injuries. (For white men those ages, unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death, followed by suicide.) In every decade that follows, for every leading cause of death, the rates of disease for black men are disproportionately high. Once they become sick, they are more likely to suffer worse consequences and die sooner of the disease.
-
It adds up to an average life span for black men that is 6.2 years less than for white men, and 8.3 less than the national average, 77.8 years, for all races and both genders.”

What do Sarah Palin and former Miss California have in common?

I think Fridays will be my day to wrap things up for the week. Here goes …
-
1. These are the people I will not be talking about from this day forward (use Keith Olbermann's opening "Countdown" voice and say that phrase aloud again). Anyway, these people are: Sarah Palin and former
Miss California, Carrie Prejean.
Why? Because they stand for mediocrity and for that matter, they stand for nothing. They add nothing to the conversation, and they use their looks and not their brains to get noticed. What's worse, they are opportunists posing as Christians; and unfortunately, they are also the shells I talked about in “Women’s Rights Opponents – Pro-Lifers”. Too bad that they’ve volunteered to be the shells.

2. Today is a day of significance for the Iranian people, and especially the young Iranian people. Whatever happens today, this is a significant step toward positive change in that region. Hopefully, the election of Barack Obama has made Americans think more deeply about their own politics and government. They certainly need to bone up on geography, American and World History and political issues and their own political representatives. Americans criticize other nations, but it is most unfortunate that they themselves have absolutely no clue how their own government works. Totally clueless. See: How Stupid Are We?
-
3. I am disappointed with the Obama administration’s choice for GM CEO. Rahm Emanuel probably had a hand in the decision; which is probably why, to my dismay, the choice is former AT&T retired executive, Edward E. Whitacre Jr. Whitacre is a veteran Republican fundraiser.

A bundler for the 2004 Bush-Cheney campaign, Whitacre and his wife Linda have donated a total of $81,000 to political candidates since 1990. To the President’s credit, none have gone to him; however, 80% of the Whitacre’s contributions have gone to the GOP. Yes, my wonderful union workers, my wonderful UAWthe President has chosen a supporter of union busters. Do you think he did that on purpose? Could be … I’d definitely be calling him to have him explain why? Then I’d get my union members together to see how to get a bigger stake in GM. If you want to know what the next move should be, leave me a comment or e-mail and/or call Michael Moore.
http://www.michaelmoore.com/words/message/index.php

4. The fact that Republicans are saying they have to reach out to minorities if they are to ever win national elections again, sort of underscores the racism factor and amplifies their current description … “right-wing” or "far right". The fact is, that once the 1965 Voting Rights Act was signed, the southern racist dixiecrats ran kicking and screaming from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party and have largely remained there ever since; and, in fact, their voices control the Republican side of the Senate and the Republican side of the Congress.
http://www.democracynow.org/2005/8/8/sncc_activist_ekwueme_michael_thelwell_people

5. I think Joe Scarborough just loves to rattle people’s cages because he is constantly saying dumb, ignorant things.
-
This morning Joe goes on and on about James W. von Brunn, trying to decide if he was a left-wing or right-wing extremist. Then the guests on “Morning Joe” and I believe Joe himself, decide to say that Mr. Brunn was mentally ill.
That really burned my but. My response:
So now you want to give any cold-blooded killer, extremist cold-blooded killer, fixated cold-blooded killer the mental illness label. Ignorance does abound on your set today; and people want to label it anything other than what it is … cold-blooded killing. How dare you try to give these killers an insanity defense.”

6. I hope some group decides to name a humanitarian charitable fund in Stephen Tyrone Johns' name (
slain Holocaust Museum guard). I’d be the first to donate.

7. Finally, I’m sick and tired of politicians over-reacting and chalking their paranoia and fears of not being re-elected, up to “so called” fears coming from their constituents.

-
Do you really think that Americans are scared to death to have terrorists in our prisons? We've got our own "home-grown" ones there now in addition to foreign terrorists. I can understand the hesitancy surrounding suspected terrorists roaming our streets; but fear over imprisoning convicted terrorists in the United States is ridiculous. No wonder other countries call Americans "soft". I'm more afraid of the home-grown" ones, because, like Brunn, they're all around us and they lie in wait ready to inflict cataclysmic harm.

DRUNK ERIE PA COP VIDEO: NAACP URGES TAKE ACTION NOW

Follow my blog with bloglovin´

Take a look at this video of a Pennsylvania police officer joking about a just-murdered man... and mocking the man's grieving mother. "We're looking at it like, 'One less drug dealer to deal with,'" the Erie, PA, police officer says. "Cool."

The murder victim, described as a loving father, had no history of drug violations, according to news reports.Would you trust this policeman to protect you and your community? I wouldn't.

Too many police officers still have attitudes like this toward the communities they are patrolling, highlighting the problems we still need to address: ending racial profiling, the high rate of unsolved murders in African American communities, police brutality and other forms of unequal justice for African Americans and Latinos.

Working with the NAACP, you can help change this situation:
-

-
These bills are designed to curb outrages like the New Year's Day shooting of unarmed Oscar Grant by transit police in Oakland; the police shooting of Robert Tolan on his front lawn in Bellaire, Texas; and the questionable death of high school football player Billie Joe Johnson, killed in what was described as a "routine traffic stop" in Lucedale, Mississippi.

NAACP branches are grappling with each of these cases. The Law Enforcement Trust and Integrity Act also includes provisions to assist local law enforcement agencies in doing more effective screening of candidates for law enforcement jobs before they are given the power to use deadly force and then during in-service reviews. It also supports the creation of local police accountability and review boards with subpoena power, independent investigatory power, and staffing and other resources needed to provide local community oversight of their law enforcement officers.

While most police officers are courageous public servants, continued police abuses are harming our communities and eroding the trust needed to both prevent and solve crimes.

THE REPUBLICAN PARTY: A PARTY ENGAGED IN TREASONOUS BEHAVIOR OR JUST A PARTY OF "NO IDEAS", RADICALS AND INSTIGATORS?

-
The REPUBLICAN PARTY is still the Party of "NO"; the Party of CHENEY; the Party of RUSH; the Party of PALIN; the Party of BACHMANN; the Party of Rick Perry; and now the Party of "TEA", and where it has sunk (where it began with Nixon), the right-wing Party of Racists, radicals and dangerous people.

I could name a lot more "racist" or “dementedright-wing Republicans, but I don't want to spend my entire afternoon on Wikipedia and "Fixed" News (that's right, I said "Fixed"). I was going to name Bill O'Reilly ... but I really don't need him or his goons showing up at my door.

The Republican Party (whose current leadership is almost largely right-wing) was just about buried after the 2008 election.* What was never buried was the racist, hate-filled, conspiracy driven Republican playbook that was documented in Robert Parry’s February 25, 2009 article, “The GOP’s Anti-Obama Propaganda” (which I posted here on March 1, 2009)

Now racist people are in both the Republican and Democratic Party; however, one need only look at the Party membership to see that the Republican Party lacks diversity and inclusion. That kind of representation was ever prominent during the 2008 Republican campaign and convention.

After the election of President Obama, gun and ammunition sales exploded, and “hate-groups” went from 602 in year 2000 to 926 in 2008.**

Though the number of Republican Party members has dwindled, let us not take that group for granted.

Let’s fast forward to the “Tea Parties” and observe the context of those rallies. Very few if any people of color were at the “Tea Parties”.

There were radical, irrational rantings and signs about “socialism” [code for welfare] and President Obama’s citizenship [code for Muslim terrorist].

Since the President fulfilled his campaign promise to lower taxes for 95% of Americans, the Tea Party idea was always extremely suspect; and we need only look at the people pushing these “Tea parties” to see that it comes from the conservative right-wing who always vote Republican.

Further, we saw racist depictions of President Obama (on the Republican side) both before and after the election.

Rick Perry and other "so-called" prominent Texans want to secede from the United States which is absurd; and unlike “Armadillo Joe” who thinks we should let Texas secede; do we really want a bunch of radicals to go unchecked within our own borders? http://broadwaycarl.blogspot.com/2009/04/racism.html

GOV. BOBBY JINDAL TO TURN DOWN STIMULUS MONEY IN ONE OF THE POOREST STATES

Republican Govs. Haley Barbour (Miss.), Mark Sanford (S.C.), Bobby Jindal (La.) and Sarah Palin (Alaska) have all said they intend to turn down some of the funding. Other Republican governors have said they will generally accept all the funds allocated to their state, though some have hinted they may join the group over certain portions of the bill they oppose. [Source Politico]
...
One of those threatening to not accept funds, Gov. Haley Barbour (R-Miss.), didn’t agree with Rendell’s estimation, but did concede that the perceived scope of the threat may be overblown. “I would think that 100 percent will take some percentage of the funding,” he said. Barbour added that he anticipates to turn down roughly $50 million in funding for social programs that he believes would be counterproductive. [Source Politico]
-
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Bobby Jindal's remarks on "Meet the Press" Sunday are suspect.
-
-
Plus, many of the part-time workers who Jindal wants to exclude from unemployment benefits, are women with families in addition to low-income workers.
-
-
Who is Bobby Jindal?
-
-
In the aftermath of Katrina, when poor Whites were shooting at African Americans [see my post on Katrina], ... it's interesting that Jindal holds firm to anti-gun control ... or is that just Republican politics as usual?
-
Jindal talks ethics reform, but, according to Nola.com [2/1/2008]:
"Jindal declined to say why he did not propose banning the use of campaign contributions to pay fines, which became a topic of debate last week when he was charged by the state Board of Ethics for failing to report $118,000 in contributions by the state Republican Party.
-
Jindal's press secretary has said that the governor plans to pay a $2,500 fine to settle the matter, and that the money will come from his campaign account."
-
-
I remember Jindal at the Republican Governor's meeting in Florida after the Republican Party's big defeat in the Presidential election and throughout the United States. There was much talk about changing school curriculum's to reflect Republican values and highlighting people who Republicans touted as Conservative/Republican heroes [I heard every word ... I watch C-SPAN often... guess no one else does].

Ever wonder why the poor and low-income people can't get a break? The Politico Source tells all."
-
No one wants to stay poor or earn very little wages, but there is a vested interest in keeping this group of people (poor and low income Caucasian/Native American/Hispanic/African American/etc.) "in their place". Sound familiar... used to hear that from ....umm .... yep, the South. Well these GOP Southern Governors are proving that they still need to keep certain folks "in their place". Voters ... don't forget these guys!
-
Ms. Palin has about 98,000 Alaskan Natives and 20,000 African Americans in her state (many poor and low-income) ... guess she doesn't care about them either.
-
We often hear people say that poor and low income people are ignorant and have low values. Truth is ... the educational system, the health care system and political system have failed them. Since many poor and low-income people are clustered together, needed funds are often diverted from or never get to their districts.
-
The other thing that has been successful in keeping this group "in their place", is getting them to blame each other for their plight and fight among themselves.
-
Well, when you cluster people together like pack rats, and deny them good water and sewer systems, lack of access to good health and dental care (and that includes mental health), make illegal drugs and alcohol attractive money making enterprises ... add in overcrowded and ill-equipped classrooms, with poorly trained or under-staffed teachers and decaying schools, that's a "catastrophe waiting to happen" and a "time bomb" ready to go off.
-
That is why ACORN is such a threat. They bring the poor and low-income together for a common cause and benefit to offer "hope" and a better life. [If you want to keep the poor and low-income "in their place", you never want them to vote or ask for anything... and you want everyone to despise them.] Well, we have plenty of evidence that the poor and low-income are despised, disenfranchised and the most likely to end up in jail or prison.
-
Once you're in the prison system, you might as well forget it... cause if and when you get out, it will become incredibly hard to integrate into mainstream society.
-
So people ... parts of the President's Recovery Plan is a threat to those people who wish "those people" would stay "in their place". Guess what parts those GOP Governors want to turn down?
-
Unless you make this a country where everyone has a chance to live a good decent life with "hope" for the future, this country will stay fractured/ruptured/divided and teetering on the brink of disaster.
-
One more thing ... I was listening to Rick Sanchez on CNN a few weeks ago, and someone from Jindal's state [LA] twittered ... [in reference to "services" in Louisiana]... The twitterer said "what services?".
