SO BARACK OBAMA IS A CORPORATE DEMOCRAT ... GET OVER IT

Today is Easter Sunday and I found myself reflecting upon the significance of this nation having elected an African American president, and just what that meant to those who voted for him and against him (in 2008).

Some felt that with the election of Barack Obama, it would be like the second coming of Christ. Others were horrified, thought the world would end, and called Barack Obama the anti-Christ.
*
-
Well folks, it’s time to wake up. Barack Obama is neither the second coming of Christ; nor is he the anti-Christ. Barack Obama is a corporate Democrat … plain and simple. Well ... actually he embodies "The Third Way". **
-
For some progresives, that news is the ultimate insult; and if you’re a conservative, I would think, you should bow down and kiss his feet.
-
The fact is, with just a few tweaks here and there, ... this president pretty much left things as they were; and for all the talk of financial reform … what little or more of it we get via Congress … will still leave things pretty much the same. [Yikes ... Banks rule the world ... the Sky is really falling]
-
So on this beautiful Easter Day, don’t fret. The world is not coming to an end [well, maybe Goldman Sachs and/or the IMF will bankrupt most countries and/or hold them hostage], … neither is there going to be a new dawn or new politics …
-
Yes, the president is a capitalist … a "Third Way" Democrat … (at the mercy of large corporations and big banks, ... just like the rest of us) ... so, get over it and move on.

(Oh, and I will be editing this, as I have lots more to say)
HAPPY EASTER!

BEWARE THE RIGHT WING EXTREMIST!

Those people or groups who seek to do violence against people of a different religion, race or ethnic group are right–wing extremists. Let me be clear; there are right-wing extremists of every religion, color, race, ethnic origin, and gender and s. orientation. Don’t confuse this fact.

We must never elect those kinds of people. We want peace-seeking Moderates and peaceful people who are inclusive and believe in inclusiveness (of peace-seeking people). That is what the Democratic Party stands for and the Democratic leadership stands for.

I was saddened when Ed Schultz (of “The Ed Show) in response to someone calling the President Muslim, said quickly that the President wasn’t Muslim. He didn’t even have the guts to say, “though there’s nothing wrong with being Muslim” or the other phrase that many use, “though I have friends who are Muslim”. At least Colin Powell was brave enough to say there’s nothing wrong with being Muslim.

For the sake of clarity, when I say left-leaning, I am speaking about those left-leaning groups in the United States that stand behind our constitutional rights and human rights. I am not talking about left-leaning groups in any other country; though many of those left-leaning groups have similar beliefs.

The majority of violent extremist groups are right wing extremist groups; they seek to exclude people from enjoying, Human Rights, Women's Rights, Constitutional rights, or Civil rights.

I’m also irritated when news commentators or others want to say that liberals and left leaning progressives have violent extremist groups. The very nature of the group being left-leaning means you tend to abhor violence against another group of people.

You will, however, find right-wing Progressives and some groups who call themselves Progressive, who would advocate violence. That’s why you have to distinguish the group from right-leaning or left-leaning or Progressive. I am a left leaning Progressive and abhor violence.

Perhaps media and others should look up the word Progressives in Wikipedia.

I don’t know any left-leaning/liberal or any left-leaning group driving around plotting to kill pro-lifers. I don’t know any left-leaning/liberal or any left-leaning group driving around or meeting to kill racists. I don’t see any left-leaning/liberal groups driving around or meeting to kill those who want to deny others of their basic human rights. I do know Moderates, left-leaning people and left-leaning/liberal/left-leaning progressive groups who will use peaceful means to try to get violent groups to stop their hate filled and violent acts.

On the lighter side … the only people that absolutely drive me insane are those people who drive around with their radios turned up loud with the base, coming from their car stereos, which reverberate and penetrate my home. I love peace and quiet. Could this group be associated with right-wing extremism? (smile)

OPEN RESPONSE TO CNN

This morning you said a word that Republicans know Americans react negatively to. I’ve heard that word every time a Republican wants to stir up trouble and lie to the American people. That word is “welfare”.

You now have used that word and have become a “mouth piece” for the Republican Party. Shame on you.

The government has always extended a helping hand to those people in need. Always … whether it was under a Republican administration or a Democratic administration … and as we know, over the past 40 years, there have been more Republican administrations than Democratic.

The Madoff types have used ponzi schemes and Wall Street introduced shady financial instruments which helped bring down this Nation. The oil companies made huge profits, CEO's made excessively huge bonuses, stock options, etc. no matter what the company's profits were. Republicans have consistently given favors (welfare) to the rich. You don’t call that welfare … you CNN, and Republicans and a lot of brainwashed people call it farm subsidies, tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, preferential treatment to corporations by enacting laws that benefit them, deregulation, etc., etc. Those words sound nicer than “welfare”.

The President will let the Bush tax cuts (that favor the wealthiest Americans) expire and reset those taxes to where it was during the Clinton administration … no longer favoring the rich (no longer providing welfare to those who don't need it).

For some reason, CNN, you always give more credibility to Republicans over Democrats. I wonder what media conglomerate (recipients of corporate “welfare”) you belong to?

If you continue to use those politically and negatively charged words, I will urge my blog followers, friends, family, and club members to watch C-SPAN or Discovery or History Channel or just turn off the television.

Again, shame on you.
-
I want all you "fat cats", Republicans, CEO's, management of large corporations, the "2% who control 80% of the wealth" in this country ... all of you to wake up and realize that the American people voted for Democrats ... defenders of low-income and middle-income workers, the poor and the sick (those Americans who represent the majority of Americans).

REALITY CHECK MR. PRESIDENT!

Mr. President,
-
Your approval rating is down, not because you're doing a lousy job; but because you're dancing around and palling around with Republicans.
-
If we wanted a bunch of Republicans, we would have voted Republican. Don't you get it? They are the distractions Americans don't want.
-
[I don't mean to disparage all Republicans, just their policies and many of their ideological arguments. -smile]
-
I know you're working hard. You probably don't need any more criticism, but if your friends can't give you a reality check, then you're out here all by yourself.
-
It's time for serious "hardball"; roll those sleeves up some more and get your base together and rally those Governors who support you and lean on whoever you have to ... to get the job done.
-
Call out the troops, Mr. President! We're here!
-
-
More suggestions to the President:
-
1. Call Christiane Amanpour and have a chat about what's going on around the Globe (Did you miss Christiane's and Fareed's special this past weekend?)
-
2. Watch the Rachel Maddow Show every night. Ms. Oxford PH.D delivers for us every night.
-
3. Call in a Computer expert who happens to be a Democrat, and check for back door viruses on your computer systems.
-
4. Sweep the White House and all your Departments for bugs and sophisticated surveillance apparatus. Do it on a regular basis. Since you haven't reversed "warrantless" wiretapping, you do know AT&T, etc. are listening in on you, your Department heads, and your friends.
-
5. Huddle with Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont and come up with an effective way to deal with these banks and banking executives.
-
6. Get a little paranoid ... not "Nixon paranoid" ... just a little. Let Rahm do his job to help watch your back. It's beginning to look like you have some real enemies on Capitol Hill, etc. May I ask what Karl Rove is doing in his spare time?
-
7. There seems to be a huge communication problem between you and the mainstream media. I'm not sure if media is looking to Republicans for answers or that Republicans are seeking out media; doesn't really matter ... media is putting the Republican message out in front to the detriment of the American people. You've got to get as many back links on the Internet with your message. Your tech guys know what to do to keep your message front and center ... to drown out that irritating Republican mosquito-like noise.
-
-
-
*Fellow supporters of the President, stop watching the television [except for the Rachel Maddow Show], quit reading the Wall Street Journal, and right wing conservative media (unless you just want to find out what they're up to)
-
-
Click below for a list of Progressive media (yeah, the good stuff):

Guys, I'm exhausted ... I think I'm going to take a vacation for about 4 days and get some much needed rest. Catch you later!
Somebody keep the faith while I'm gone.

RNC ELECT AFRICAN AMERICAN, MICHAEL STEELE, WHILE STILL REACHING OUT TO RACISTS AND MALCONTENTS

The other day, I sent an email to Boehner or some Republican House member and asked "Why is it that racists and malcontents are attracted to your Party?"
Well, it must have scared the hell out of them ... cause, guess what?
-
The Republican Party elected African American Michael Steele [moderate Republican, proponent of "drill baby drill" and high deductibles for health insurance] as RNC chair; however, by virtue of their love for Rush Limbaugh, we believe, at this time, they are using Mr. Steele as a smoke screen for their Republican agenda.
-
Now I'm not going to take all the credit, because what really scared them was the election of an African American male by the name of Barack Husein Obama; who is part Caucasian, part African Muslim, Christian, great family man, has lived in Hawaii and South East Asia, etc. This could have only happened in the Democratic Party.
-
WOW! That must have really shook the "core" of the Republican Party.
-
Didn't shake Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity or Bill O'Reilly.
-
This week several Republicans rebuked Rush Limbaugh for remarks made to President Obama, saying he "wished Obama would fail"; however, one of those Republicans apologized to Rush and admitted he agreed with Rush.
-
We are in the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, with thousands of people losing their homes and millions out of work, and Rush, who some consider a leader in the Republican Party; wishes that President Obama would fail. Never would have heard that from a Democrat [kiss of death]; however, the Republican Party like some of their elitist "Wall Street" corporate buddies are an arrogant bunch.
-
Ok, readers, here's more news ....I'm so excited, cause it makes my point [didn't know it was going to be that easy] ...
-
According to Wikipedia:
-
"Steele then entered the Georgetown University Law Center and in 1991, he received his Juris Doctor degree. He worked as a corporate securities associate at the Washington, D.C. office of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton. From 1991 to 1997, Steele specialized in financial investments for Wall Street underwriters, working at Cleary’s Tokyo, Japan office focusing on major product liability litigation and at its London office on corporate matters. Steele left the law firm and founded the Steele Group, a business and legal consulting firm..."
-
Does that not make my point about Republican buddies, or what? A defender of big business and "Wall Street". [Umm]
-
Now back to Rush Limbaugh and his loyal followers.
-
May 6, 2008, Rush called Latino Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa "A Shoeshine Guy"
-
Rush attracts racists and malcontents and they seem to flock to the Republican Party.
-
According to Professor Ekwueme Michael Thelwell ... after the Voting Rights Act of 1965, [that outlawed discriminatory voting practices that had been responsible for the widespread disenfranchisement of African Americans in the United States], the racist Southern Dixiecrats flocked to the Republican Party.
-
"To our distress, what happened was the Dixiecrats, the racists, the segregationists simply migrated wholesale into the Republican Party and since that time, there have only been two Democratic presidents, and both of them from the South. You know, so that the law of unintended consequences, we won a victory by which the whole country suffered, as a consequence of the taking over of the Republican Party by these really renegade, undemocratic, reactionary, backward elements from the Southern Dixiecrats. And they have run the Republican Party ever since."
Amy Goodwin Interview, Aug 2005
-
-
Republicans tend to attract in smaller numbers ... upper class African Americans and Asians; and some Hispanic Catholics who may have abandoned the Party in this past election. But a large majority of Republicans come from the South [that includes Evangelicals] and Mountain West; and, they embrace elitist members of the financial community, the management of large corporations, [esp. those who are anti-union] and certain segments of the small business community.
-
Republicans have a vested interest in keeping corporate taxes low because those are their very largest contributors. In the last 48 - 72 hours of the Presidential election, there were huge donations made from the above named groups.
-
-
I've never known a racist (you know, the ones who violently hate minority groups and Jewish people) to join the Democratic Party [probably because Democrats have a large number of African Americans, Jewish people, and members of the Hispanic Community].
-

Democrats reflect every ethnic group and economic class; however, it has been the only party to consistently reach out to.. and look out for... "Women, and also the Low Income and Middle Income" working class; who without them, this country would be devastated. The erosion of the Middle Class (pushing them lower and lower into the lower rungs of the economic ladder) has largely contributed to the state we are in now.
-
Republicans are strongly anti-union and, if you recall, just the other day, every male Republican except Arlen Spector of Pennsylvania, voted no on the "Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act".
-
Republicans have fiscal policies that benefit their largest contributors - which in 2008 was ATT, (the corporation that allowed Bush/Cheney intelligence to spy on civilians)**
-
Unless the Obama administration disallows this, I will have to change telephone and Internet providers.
-
-
One more thing, I'm really tired of Republican women referring to Sarah Palin as being the first woman nominee for Vice President. Excuse me, Geraldine Ferraro (a Democrat) was the first VP nominee.

The Controversy surrounding Republican Chip Saltsman:
-
For Christmas 2008, Saltsman sent a music CD of songs intended to be political satire to members of the Republican National Committee. The CD of 41 songs included one entitled "David Ehrenstein's 'Barack the Magic Negro' " set to the tune of "Puff, the Magic Dragon". Its title was drawn from a Los Angeles Times column, written by Ehrenstein, who is partly of African-American descent,[13] that suggested President-elect Barack Obama appealed to those who feel guilty about the nation's history of mistreatment of African-Americans.[14] Saltsman said the song, penned by his longtime friend Paul Shanklin, a white conservative parodist songwriter, who performs it using his impersonation of Al Sharpton, "should be easily recognized as satire directed at the Times."[15]
-
Deborah Mathis fired back on BlackAmericaWeb.com .. December 29, 2008...
"What a pathetic bumpkin Chip Saltsman turns out to be.Saltsman is bound to have learned some things from managing Mike Huckabee’s once-quixotic presidential campaign, which actually had some momentum for awhile. But basic human politics escape him ...
Frankly, that’s the way I like it. I prefer bigots who are too country, too primitive, too proud, and too shallow to cloak their feelings – or even know how to – as opposed to those sophisticates who serve their racism cold and on a bed of pretense. What makes Saltsman’s transparency not only preferable, but vital is that he had hoped to be chairman of the Republican National Committee, which now understands clearly that black and brown support is no longer a luxury, but a necessity.
-
The last thing it needs is to be identified with racial divisiveness and insensitivity. As Mike Duncan, the current RNC chairman, noted, “The 2008 election was a wake-up call for Republicans to reach out and bring more people into our party.”
-
Duncan expressed outrage “that anyone would think this is appropriate as it clearly does not move us in the right direction.”In short, Saltsman’s chairmanship ambitions are toast. For sure, the Tennessee Republican isn’t the only one who got a kick out of “Barack, the Magic Negro.”
-
It was, after all, Rush Limbaugh who introduced the country to it via his radio show. But the blustery, perennially offensive Limbaugh was not in line to set the agenda for a major political party. Now, neither is Saltsman.
-
Interestingly, another would-be RNC chairman is sounding more forgiving of Saltsman than is the current GOP leadership. Ken Blackwell, the former Ohio secretary of state and apologist for the state’s squirrely voting system, blames the media for “hypersensitivity” on race and would not condemn Saltsman’s action.Blackwell, you may recall, is a black man. Apparently, rather than take the party forward, he is more concerned with not offending the bigots in his party by pointing out their bigotry, so as to assure them that he is not the angry black man of legend than he is on taking the party forward. We’ve seen that type before too. The accommodationist, tap dancing his way into favor. The type who would probably be flattered had the magic Negro of note been “Ken,” not “Barack.”
-
-
The Republican Party (a party that racists and malcontents are attracted to) says that they haven't changed their fundamental core values.
Why have they really elected Michael Steele? Smoke screen?
1. Can a leopard change its spots?
2. If it acts like a duck, talks like a duck, then it's probably still a duck.

An Easy Resolution to Barack Obama's Senate Seat

-
About Barack Obama's Senate seat .....

Barack Obama’s Senate seat was occupied by a Democrat; therefore, the remainder of Barack Obama’s term must go to a Democrat.
The way to resolve the difficulties the Democrats find themselves in is to have a Democratic Senatorial special election.

GOP TURNS TO HOWARD DEAN FOR SALVATION

A Democrat is about democracy; but a Republican trying to be democratic is ridiculous.

I'm referring to a Huffington Post article titled "GOP turns to Howard Dean for Salvation".

"This past weekend, a candidate for RNC Chair, Michigan Republican Party Chair Saul Anuzi, said the Grand Old Party would do well to follow the example set by the former Vermont Governor.

"There is a perception that we are a regional party and that we are a party from the South because that's the region we're consistently winning today,"
Anuzis told Politico. "I do think we need to have our version of the 50-state program that [Democratic National Committee Chair Howard] Dean had."

This prescription came days after Karl Rove, the architect of the current Republican Party, made a similar plea of his own. Noting incredible margins that Barack Obama had among black and Latino voters, the former Bush strategist -- appearing at a debate on the Bush legacy in New York -- said the GOP had to "be a party governing all Americans... It can only do that by making the case to African American and Latinos."

For the GOP to be an inclusive party, it would have to be more democratic, which would mean it would have to adopt democratic ideology. We all know this is ludicrous; and, as long as the GOP is represented by people like Karl Rove, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and Bill O'Reilly, the rest of us would do well to run in any direction but their direction.

You can read the entire article at Huffington Post
