SHIRLEY SHERROD IS RIGHT. IT IS MORE ABOUT CLASS THAN RACE
ALSO UPDATED
LINKS AND YVES SMITH VIDEO AT THE END OF THIS POST
You ever notice that … When a certain class of
people engage in a certain behavior it is okay, while it is not okay if another
class of people engage in the same behavior? For instance, if powerful or
affluent people engage in the behavior it’s not so bad, or even bad at all;
however, if the "not powerful" or non affluent people engage in the
same behavior it is wrong. Remember that whole BillO’Reilly speech about the pregnancy of the daughter of Sarah Palin (a
power, affluent conservative) beinga family issue (even though she was not married) while just weeks or
months earlier he defamed girls (who were not affluent or powerful, [or were
from a different political party]) for the same behavior.
The affluent and powerful have even created a different setof rules for the haves and have-nots. The pharmaceutical industry is an example of
this difference. For instance, as long as you have a prescription for an
addictive drug and/or a behavior/or mind altering drug it’s just fine and
dandy; however, if you buy addictive and/or mind altering drugs “off the
street” you must be punished (perhaps even imprisoned for a very long time).
Both kinds of drugs have the potential to do all kinds of harm; however there
is no punishment for buying with a prescription, but there is punishment for
buying “off the street”.
Look, this is all about money and power …
it’s okay for the affluent to do it, or do it to get richer or stay rich. Militarycontractors get away with murder; GoldmanSachs gets slappedwith a fine for engaging in tactics [very questionable legalfinancial schemes] that caused some people to lose their home and
savings and perhaps their life or their health as a consequence of losing their
savings.
Different set of rules for the affluent and
powerful. They are above the law. I’ll say it again, …. They are above
the law. Every now and then one of them gets sacrificed for their cause;
however, you ever notice how these people won't pay much of a price, or won’t
serve much time; or when they get out of prison they are welcomed back into the
fold and even rewarded. Hell, the Mafia
did this all the time. They’ll tell the *"sacrificial lamb” to “do
the time” and we’ll take care of your family and/or reward you when you get
out; or (Mr. sacrificial lamb) "takethe bullet" and we’ll take really good care of your family.
I don’t have to give you example after example
because you know it’s true. They even know you know it’s true … it’s the
reason why they constantly distract you. It's the reason they get you fighting
over age, and race and gender and religion and ethnicity. They know these are
hot button issues; but they exaggerate and define these issues … Hell, some
issues they even dream up (Obamacare [specifically a standard “living will”]
will kill grandma). There are numerous conservative blogs with this
"Obamacare will kill grandma and Americans" crap. These
conservatives won't tell you that the "good ole" health insurance
companies deny you treatment every day, and give your personal and medical
information to the MedicalInformation Bureau (MIB) for other health and life insurance company
members to see. We certainly know these same health insurance companies denycoverage based on pre-existing conditions. Health insurance companies
have real life and death policies. The game of the affluent and powerful is to
distract you with lies and misinformation.
-
To hell with the truth. The (Haves) super
rich and powerful and affluent willeven go to war to protect their way of life. They will even offer up
some of their own children, ... but we all know what "class" the vast
majority of the children (who will pay the price) will come from.
They don’t want to level the playing field
… (their mission) just distract these insignificant people with
their misery and have them point their fingers at each other …. Hook them on
frivolous and dangerous things while they go about the business of amassing and
keeping money and power no matter what the cost to the planet, or the
environment or your life. They have no shame … no shame. They will
murder, lie, rob, cheat and steal … whatever it takes to maintain their
lifestyle and their seat at the” head of the table”.
ShirleySherrod said it … this is more about "class" than
race. It’s about the Haves and Have-nots.She told the truth and we know it,
and that’s why Shirley Sherrod will be dissected by the Haves and even some of
the Have-nots for speaking the truth. We’ve already seen some of the have-nots
in the Tea Party (and among some conservatives) vilify her (and distort her
message) for telling the truth. Some have-nots would rather stay in denial
and hate their own class, than do something about pushing the have-nots up, or
leveling the playing field.
Some of the Have-nots have "sold out"
because they think they will be rewarded by the "Haves"; and indeed
some of them have been rewarded by the Haves. My dear friends, there are Judases
everywhere … those (people) who are “bought and paid for” by the super rich,
affluent and powerful. They are promised a small piece of the pie if they
protect their way of life.

What do Sarah Palin and former Miss California have in common?
I think Fridays will be my day to wrap things up for the week. Here goes …
-
1. These are the people I will not be talking about from this day forward (use Keith Olbermann's opening "Countdown" voice and say that phrase aloud again). Anyway, these people are: Sarah Palin and former Miss California, Carrie Prejean.
Why? Because they stand for mediocrity and for that matter, they stand for nothing. They add nothing to the conversation, and they use their looks and not their brains to get noticed. What's worse, they are opportunists posing as Christians; and unfortunately, they are also the shells I talked about in “Women’s Rights Opponents – Pro-Lifers”. Too bad that they’ve volunteered to be the shells.
2. Today is a day of significance for the Iranian people, and especially the young Iranian people. Whatever happens today, this is a significant step toward positive change in that region. Hopefully, the election of Barack Obama has made Americans think more deeply about their own politics and government. They certainly need to bone up on geography, American and World History and political issues and their own political representatives. Americans criticize other nations, but it is most unfortunate that they themselves have absolutely no clue how their own government works. Totally clueless. See: How Stupid Are We?
-
3. I am disappointed with the Obama administration’s choice for GM CEO. Rahm Emanuel probably had a hand in the decision; which is probably why, to my dismay, the choice is former AT&T retired executive, Edward E. Whitacre Jr. Whitacre is a veteran Republican fundraiser.
A bundler for the 2004 Bush-Cheney campaign, Whitacre and his wife Linda have donated a total of $81,000 to political candidates since 1990. To the President’s credit, none have gone to him; however, 80% of the Whitacre’s contributions have gone to the GOP. Yes, my wonderful union workers, my wonderful UAW … the President has chosen a supporter of union busters. Do you think he did that on purpose? Could be … I’d definitely be calling him to have him explain why? Then I’d get my union members together to see how to get a bigger stake in GM. If you want to know what the next move should be, leave me a comment or e-mail and/or call Michael Moore. http://www.michaelmoore.com/words/message/index.php
4. The fact that Republicans are saying they have to reach out to minorities if they are to ever win national elections again, sort of underscores the racism factor and amplifies their current description … “right-wing” or "far right". The fact is, that once the 1965 Voting Rights Act was signed, the southern racist dixiecrats ran kicking and screaming from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party and have largely remained there ever since; and, in fact, their voices control the Republican side of the Senate and the Republican side of the Congress.

5. I think Joe Scarborough just loves to rattle people’s cages because he is constantly saying dumb, ignorant things.
-
This morning Joe goes on and on about James W. von Brunn, trying to decide if he was a left-wing or right-wing extremist. Then the guests on “Morning Joe” and I believe Joe himself, decide to say that Mr. Brunn was mentally ill.
That really burned my but. My response:
“So now you want to give any cold-blooded killer, extremist cold-blooded killer, fixated cold-blooded killer the mental illness label. Ignorance does abound on your set today; and people want to label it anything other than what it is … cold-blooded killing. How dare you try to give these killers an insanity defense.”
6. I hope some group decides to name a humanitarian charitable fund in Stephen Tyrone Johns' name (slain Holocaust Museum guard). I’d be the first to donate.
7. Finally, I’m sick and tired of politicians over-reacting and chalking their paranoia and fears of not being re-elected, up to “so called” fears coming from their constituents.
-
Do you really think that Americans are scared to death to have terrorists in our prisons? We've got our own "home-grown" ones there now in addition to foreign terrorists. I can understand the hesitancy surrounding suspected terrorists roaming our streets; but fear over imprisoning convicted terrorists in the United States is ridiculous. No wonder other countries call Americans "soft". I'm more afraid of the home-grown" ones, because, like Brunn, they're all around us and they lie in wait ready to inflict cataclysmic harm.

THE REPUBLICAN PARTY: A PARTY ENGAGED IN TREASONOUS BEHAVIOR OR JUST A PARTY OF "NO IDEAS", RADICALS AND INSTIGATORS?

http://www.jackandjillpolitics.com/2009/04/the-rotting-racist-underbelly-of-the-tea-party-protests/
The REPUBLICAN PARTY is still the Party of "NO"; the Party of CHENEY; the Party of RUSH; the Party of PALIN; the Party of BACHMANN; the Party of Rick Perry; and now the Party of "TEA", and where it has sunk (where it began with Nixon), the right-wing Party of Racists, radicals and dangerous people.
I could name a lot more "racist" or “demented” right-wing Republicans, but I don't want to spend my entire afternoon on Wikipedia and "Fixed" News (that's right, I said "Fixed"). I was going to name Bill O'Reilly ... but I really don't need him or his goons showing up at my door.
The Republican Party (whose current leadership is almost largely right-wing) was just about buried after the 2008 election.* What was never buried was the racist, hate-filled, conspiracy driven Republican playbook that was documented in Robert Parry’s February 25, 2009 article, “The GOP’s Anti-Obama Propaganda” (which I posted here on March 1, 2009)
Now racist people are in both the Republican and Democratic Party; however, one need only look at the Party membership to see that the Republican Party lacks diversity and inclusion. That kind of representation was ever prominent during the 2008 Republican campaign and convention.
After the election of President Obama, gun and ammunition sales exploded, and “hate-groups” went from 602 in year 2000 to 926 in 2008.**
Though the number of Republican Party members has dwindled, let us not take that group for granted.
Let’s fast forward to the “Tea Parties” and observe the context of those rallies. Very few if any people of color were at the “Tea Parties”.
There were radical, irrational rantings and signs about “socialism” [code for welfare] and President Obama’s citizenship [code for Muslim terrorist].
Since the President fulfilled his campaign promise to lower taxes for 95% of Americans, the Tea Party idea was always extremely suspect; and we need only look at the people pushing these “Tea parties” to see that it comes from the conservative right-wing who always vote Republican.
Further, we saw racist depictions of President Obama (on the Republican side) both before and after the election.
Rick Perry and other "so-called" prominent Texans want to secede from the United States which is absurd; and unlike “Armadillo Joe” who thinks we should let Texas secede; do we really want a bunch of radicals to go unchecked within our own borders? http://broadwaycarl.blogspot.com/2009/04/racism.html

SARAH PALIN UNLEASHED and UNHINGED
Did you see that television segment about Sarah Palin? She spoke about her trials and tribulations on the campaign trail (smile).
So what did "Morning Joe" do this morning? ... they were sympathetic and agreed somewhat with Ms. Palin's views.
Now, I think Mika, Joe and Willy just wanted to "shake things up"; at least, that is what I hope. I would hate to think that those three were temporarily deranged.
Ms. Palin thinks that if she had run as a Democrat, she would have been embraced.
This is what I wrote "Morning Joe" [I must have an obsession with "Morning Joe" this week]
"Ok, now I think I know why you guys supposedly are sympathetic to Palin.
You really wanted Democrats to go bonkers. Here is why “that woman” would have never been chosen by a Democrat:
1. Sarah Palin would have been "fully vetted", and there’s no way she would have been chosen presenting a pregnant teen-age daughter. It's not a good political move for a Democrat since Republicans are always trying to prove that Democrats are immoral.
2. She’s anti-pro choice. She doesn’t believe in sex education.
3. Her husband belonged to, or used to belong to a secessionist group.
4. She would have been perceived as lacking intelligence. Heck, the minute she opened her mouth, she would have been given the ax. Democrats like intelligent people.
5. Most Democrats are not gun toting, "kill wolves, moose, and bears" kind of people.
6. Democrats are environmentally friendly.
Need I go on? Come on.
