WHAT DOES THE WHITE HOUSE DO NEXT ON HEALTHCARE?

Okay, I plead guilty to going ballistic after hearing about the backroom deals that the White House took part in early on. It seems they decided to not really fix the broken healthcare system we have. They decided (or Rahm Emanuel decided) instead to go with a pro-health insurance industry, health insurance (so called reform) package and call it healthcare reform … eventually the healthcare reform label became health insurance reform.

Now that the jig is up and everyone knows about the deals cut by the White House, the White House is saying “you guys have this all wrong”. They claim what the Senate has done is true health (insurance) reform. At least they’re not calling it healthcare reform (or did you guys hear something else?).

The White House caused a firestorm when Gibbs crucified Dr. Dean (former Chairman of the DNC, and the voice of the progressives who has been fighting for real healthcare reform for quite some time); calling Dr. Dean’s criticisms of the Senate bill as insanity or something to that effect.

Then Senator Rockefeller chimed in and holy hell broke loose on the liberal blogosphere; and I was, and still am, extremely angry at the White House.

Where does that leave things today? Who knows. I’m sure the White House will try to “pull a rabbit out of a hat” and come up with something that they think will appease people who are angry at the White House and various members of Congress.
-
You'll also be seeing more and more members of Congress talking about what a great Senate bill they have, and how wonderful it will be for so many people.

The president has said (according to Gibbs) that next year, the president plans to pay less attention to criticism of his handling of things. … okay …

You can read my previous post for links to some informative articles regarding the healthcare debate and backroom deals by the White House.

If I don’t post before Christmas, have a fantastic holiday.

PS: Guys I wrote this post this morning, this afternoon I read a post from Drew Westen. I thought I was the only one who felt this way about the president. You ask ... which way? ...

Health Care Lies and Health Care Solutions - REQUIRED LISTENING

I'm shocked that Republicans think that people would buy into the lies coming out of that party. Well, some people do believe that stuff, even though it is nutty.
-
Lobbyists and special interest groups from the Health Insurance Industry are hard at work trying to disseminate false information about health care reform to derail it.
-
140,000 people will lose their health insurance in the next three weeks. This is horrendous! Do Republicans and big business care? Guess not. Their sole purpose is to kill health care reform.
-
I want you to listen to (R-MN6) Congresswoman Michele Bachmann's speech before the Conservative Women's Network. If you don't understand that Republicans are trying to kill health care reform after listening, then you truly have a problem:

Think Progress reports that lies about health care reform are not going to go away anytime soon.
In an interview with The New York Times, conservative pollster Frank Luntz admitted that he would continue raising the false specter of a ”Washington takeover” of health care—whether or not that was Obama’s actual proposal. “I’m not a policy person. I’m a language person,” Luntz said.

GOP TURNS TO HOWARD DEAN FOR SALVATION

A Democrat is about democracy; but a Republican trying to be democratic is ridiculous.

I'm referring to a Huffington Post article titled "GOP turns to Howard Dean for Salvation".

"This past weekend, a candidate for RNC Chair, Michigan Republican Party Chair Saul Anuzi, said the Grand Old Party would do well to follow the example set by the former Vermont Governor.

"There is a perception that we are a regional party and that we are a party from the South because that's the region we're consistently winning today,"
Anuzis told Politico. "I do think we need to have our version of the 50-state program that [Democratic National Committee Chair Howard] Dean had."

This prescription came days after Karl Rove, the architect of the current Republican Party, made a similar plea of his own. Noting incredible margins that Barack Obama had among black and Latino voters, the former Bush strategist -- appearing at a debate on the Bush legacy in New York -- said the GOP had to "be a party governing all Americans... It can only do that by making the case to African American and Latinos."

For the GOP to be an inclusive party, it would have to be more democratic, which would mean it would have to adopt democratic ideology. We all know this is ludicrous; and, as long as the GOP is represented by people like Karl Rove, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and Bill O'Reilly, the rest of us would do well to run in any direction but their direction.
