I can't figure it out; either the Republican Party is for 'Gay rights or against Gay rights ... you can't be both. ....or can you?
The Republican Party's base are the religious conservatives. Religious conservatives are against Gay rights. They want nothing to do with Gays or the Gay movement. - But lo and behold, there are Gays in the Republican Party ... but get this ... most are "in the freaking closet". .. What the hell?! = I guess you have to ascertain what Republicans stand for, and define what a Conservative is;Gay conservative to go? - Hey, I'm not going to tell you what Republicans stand for, or define what a Conservative is ... hell, you've got time, you look it up. Right? after that, you can determine if Gays have a place in the Republican Party. If not, where the hell is the

I've learned quite a bit over the last 48 hours. I learned why Republicans lie, and create fear and cause anxiety, and confusion.
- Want to know why? ...
-
The reason is, ... Conservatives don't want you to know what they truly believe.
- They believe that:
1. Everyone is not created Equal 2. Everyone is not Welcome Here / and 3. No you cannot practice Freedom of Religion, only what we say you can practice, and
4. Everyone does not have the right to vote. The one group of people that they don't want to have a right to vote ... is poor people; and the other groups are certain Hispanics (that they call anchor babies) and American Muslims.

You ever notice that … When a certain class of
people engage in a certain behavior it is okay, while it is not okay if another
class of people engage in the same behavior? For instance, if powerful or
affluent people engage in the behavior it’s not so bad, or even bad at all;
however, if the "not powerful" or non affluent people engage in the
same behavior it is wrong. Remember that wholeBillO’Reilly speech about the pregnancy of the daughter of Sarah Palin (a
power, affluent conservative) beinga family issue (even though she was not married) while just weeks or
months earlier he defamed girls (who were not affluent or powerful, [or were
from a different political party]) for the same behavior.
-
The affluent and powerful have even created a different setof rules for the haves and have-nots. The pharmaceutical industry is an example of
this difference. For instance, as long as you have a prescription for an
addictive drug and/or a behavior/or mind altering drug it’s just fine and
dandy; however, if you buy addictive and/or mind altering drugs “off the
street” you must be punished (perhaps even imprisoned for a very long time).
Both kinds of drugs have the potential to do all kinds of harm; however there
is no punishment for buying with a prescription, but there is punishment for
buying “off the street”.
-
Look, this is all about money and power …
it’s okay for the affluent to do it, or do it to get richer or stay rich. Militarycontractors get away with murder; GoldmanSachs gets slappedwith a fine for engaging in tactics [very questionable legalfinancial schemes] that caused some people to lose their home and
savings and perhaps their life or their health as a consequence of losing their
savings.
-
Different set of rules for the affluent and
powerful. They are above the law. I’ll say it again, …. They are above
the law. Every now and then one of them gets sacrificed for their cause;
however, you ever notice how these people won't pay much of a price, or won’t
serve much time; or when they get out of prison they are welcomed back into the
fold and even rewarded. Hell, the Mafia
did this all the time. They’ll tell the *"sacrificial lamb” to “do
the time” and we’ll take care of your family and/or reward you when you get
out; or (Mr. sacrificial lamb) "takethe bullet" and we’ll take really good care of your family.
-
I don’t have to give you example after example
because you know it’s true. They even know you know it’s true … it’s the
reason why they constantly distract you. It's the reason they get you fighting
over age, and race and gender and religion and ethnicity. They know these are
hot button issues; but they exaggerate and define these issues … Hell, some
issues they even dream up (Obamacare [specifically a standard “living will”]
will kill grandma). There are numerous conservative blogs with this
"Obamacare will kill grandma and Americans" crap. These
conservatives won't tell you that the "good ole" health insurance
companies deny you treatment every day, and give your personal and medical
information to the MedicalInformation Bureau (MIB) for other health and life insurance company
members to see. We certainly know these same health insurance companies denycoverage based on pre-existing conditions. Health insurance companies
have real life and death policies. The game of the affluent and powerful is to
distract you with lies and misinformation.
-
To hell with the truth. The (Haves) super
rich and powerful and affluent willeven go to war to protect their way of life. They will even offer up
some of their own children, ... but we all know what "class" the vast
majority of the children (who will pay the price) will come from.
-
They don’t want to level the playing field
… (their mission) just distract these insignificant people with
their misery and have them point their fingers at each other …. Hook them on
frivolous and dangerous things while they go about the business of amassing and
keeping money and power no matter what the cost to the planet, or the
environment or your life. They have no shame … no shame. They will
murder, lie, rob, cheat and steal … whatever it takes to maintain their
lifestyle and their seat at the” head of the table”.
-
ShirleySherrod said it … this is more about "class" than
race. It’s about the Haves and Have-nots.She told the truth and we know it,
and that’s why Shirley Sherrod will be dissected by the Haves and even some of
the Have-nots for speaking the truth. We’ve already seen some of the have-nots
in the Tea Party (and among some conservatives) vilify her (and distort her
message) for telling the truth. Some have-nots would rather stay in denial
and hate their own class, than do something about pushing the have-nots up, or
leveling the playing field.
-
Some of the Have-nots have "sold out"
because they think they will be rewarded by the "Haves"; and indeed
some of them have been rewarded by the Haves. My dear friends, there are Judases
everywhere … those (people) who are “bought and paid for” by the super rich,
affluent and powerful. They are promised a small piece of the pie if they
protect their way of life.

YVES SMITH ON THE WASHINGTON JOURNAL 8/7/2010/
READ YVES SMITH'S EXCELLENT BLOG - NAKEDCAPITALISM
Today is Easter Sunday and I found myself reflecting upon the significance of this nation having elected an African American president, and just what that meant to those who voted for him and against him (in 2008).
- Well folks, it’s time to wake up. Barack Obama is neither the second coming of Christ; nor is he the anti-Christ. Barack Obama is a corporate Democrat … plain and simple. Well ... actually he embodies "The Third Way". ** - For some progresives, that news is the ultimate insult; and if you’re a conservative, I would think, you should bow down and kiss his feet.
-
The fact is, with just a few tweaks here and there, ... this president pretty much left things as they were; and for all the talk of financial reform … what little or more of it we get via Congress … will still leave things pretty much the same. [Yikes ... Banks rule the world ... the Sky is really falling] - So on this beautiful Easter Day, don’t fret. The world is not coming to an end [well, maybe Goldman Sachs and/or the IMF will bankrupt most countries and/or hold them hostage], … neither is there going to be a new dawn or new politics …
- Yes, the president is a capitalist … a "Third Way" Democrat … (at the mercy of large corporations and big banks, ... just like the rest of us) ... so, get over it and move on.
(Oh, and I will be editing this, as I have lots more to say) HAPPY EASTER!
Prime Minister (Labor Party) Gordon Brown of Great Britain/N.Ireland spoke movingly and eloquently before the Joint Session of Congress yesterday, amid an uproarious applause; might say he received more adulation than President Obama (too close to tell).
With this amount of praise and adulation, you would think you would have heard more about, and more focus on, the Prime Minister’s address coming from our mainstream media and our cable channels. Except for C-SPAN where I saw the Prime Minister speak, there was scarce coverage. Well, those aforementioned channels did mention that the Queen bestowed knighthood on Senator Ted Kennedy. Other than that, not much else. Wonder why … don’t you?
Well here’s what I think. The kind of address the Prime Minister made (coming from a Labor Party member), would be difficult for a conservative. Bits of the speech … maybe.
This is the kind of speech a Labor Party makes, the kind of speech a Democratic Party would make.
The Prime Minister talked about the people, the world, the poor, the powerless, children who are tortured, those who suffer, the environment, a green economy, and leveling the playing field so all can participate.
“Our first responsibility is to help the powerless.” … “Wherever there is hardship, wherever there is suffering, we cannot, we will not, pass by on the other side.”
“For let us remember there is a common bond that unites us as human beings across different beliefs, cultures and nationalities. It is at the core of my convictions.”
Perhaps "this focus" is why we didn’t hear much about the Prime Minister’s speech from our mainstream media and CNN and right-wing media.
Here’s an outline of what Prime Minister Brown said:
1. The Prime Minister praised the United States.
2. A Knighthood for Senator Edward Kennedy from the Queen … and thoughts on the American Spirit.
PM “Throughout your history Americans have led insurrections in the human imagination, have summoned revolutionary times through your belief that there is no such thing as an impossible endeavor”
“What mattered more was this enduring truth – that you, the American people, at your core, were, as you remain, every bit as optimistic as your Roosevelts, your Reagans and your Obamas”
“You have shown that while a terrorist may destroy buildings and even, tragically, lives, they have not, and will not ever, destroy the American spirit”
3. Transatlantic Relationship: “Brown used the phrase “special relationship” twice – preferring instead formulations using words such as “friendship” or “partnership”. He also explicitly drew in the rest of Europe into the transatlantic relations Britain often likes to see as between it and the US.”
PM “You now have the most pro-American European leadership in living memory … There is no old Europe, no new Europe, there is only your friend Europe.”
4. Values: The Prime Minister extended his sections on America and transatlantic relations to talk about the ‘common bond that unites us as human beings’. He turned to values he said her learned as a child and some ‘ancient truths’.
PM “We do not value the wealthy less when we say that our first duty is to help the not so wealthy. We do not value the powerful less when we say that our first responsibility is to help the powerless.”
“In this most modern of crises I am drawn to the most ancient of truths; wherever there is hardship, wherever there is suffering, we cannot, we will not, pass by on the other side.”
“For let us remember there is a common bond that unites us as human beings across different beliefs, cultures and nationalities. It is at the core of my convictions.”
5. Foreign Policy: Brown turned to joint areas of joint foreign policy – the Middle East peace process, the two wars and towards Iran. He also, as he talked about Africa, recounted the story of a Rwandan boy tortured to death whose final words were of hope in the United Nations.
PM “Let me pay tribute to the soldiers, yours and ours, who again fright side by side in the plains of Afghanistan and the streets of Iraq.”
“And our shared message to Iran is simple – we are ready for you to rejoin the world community. But first, you must cease your threats and suspend your nuclear program”.
“The greatest gift our generation could give to the future … could be, for every child in every country of the world, the chance millions do not have today; the chance to go to school.”
6. Economy: Brown referred often to the lessons to be learned from the crisis, but – unlike his appearances in the commons – did not seek to blame Britain’s problems on the US banking sector. He also looked towards global action against tax havens.
PM “We need to understand what went wrong in this crisis, that the very financial instruments that were designed to diversify risk across the banking system instead spread contagion across the globe.”
“America and Britain will succeed and lead if we tap into the talents of our people, unleash the genius of our scientists and set free the drive of our entrepreneurs.”
“How much safer would everybody’s savings be if the whole world finally came together to outlaw shadow banking systems and offshore tax havens?”
7. Green Issues: While the environment did not form the largest section of the Prime Minister’s speech, he did give it emphasis – often pairing the environment with the economy as the two most pressing issues facing the world. He also looked forward to this year’s climate change summit in Copenhagen.
PM “I come now to talk of new and different battles we must fight together; to speak of a global economy in crisis and a planet imperiled.”
“It is only by investing in environmental technology that we can end the dictatorship of oil, and it is only by tackling climate change that we create the millions of new green jobs we need.”
“I am confident that this president, this congress and the peoples of the world can come together in Copenhagen this December to reach a historic agreement on climate change.”
To be perfectly understood, we do not condone acts of violence against U.S., and we do not condone breaking laws, or agree with people who break the law.
