HEAVEN SAVE US FROM A CENTRIST

There are a number of so-called centrist organizations (ex. "No Label") or centrist entities popping up all over the place. These centrists say they are simply people who are sensible, who don't want to yell and scream, who just want to work things out, who are willing to compromise.

Don't confuse "centrist" with "independent".

Right now (in my opinion) we don't need a centrist ... because the one thing you don't need when your house is on fire, is for someone to politely try to work out a solution to put the fire out. Yes, be rational, ... but hell, your house is on fire!! Muster all the people, money and other resources on heaven and earth and put the damn thing out now!

I don't want someone who is watching their family being murdered and raped, say "you can rape and kill him and/or her, but leave what's left of my family alone". I want them to move heaven and earth, and do whatever they can, and find whoever they can, to stop their entire family from being slaughtered and raped.

See centrists (again, my opinion) are status quo people. These are the folks who would leave the poor and disabled to fend for themselves in order to arrive at some kind of "compromise", or because they need certain folks money to campaign and win elections. They never think to stand on street corners, go house to house, and walk from city to city, state to state with a message, ... that in America (with my family) some things are worth fighting for.

Centrists were the ones who politely compromised on health care reform while women who had breast cancer were dying (are dying) because they couldn't (can't) afford treatment.

Some things you simply don't compromise on. For example: It is a woman (not you or me or the state) who decides what to do with her life and her body (and no one should put barriers up or should stand in her way) ... non negotiable. For example: Our children deserve to be (and because they can't do it all by themselves) protected, fed, clothed, sheltered now, to have health care now ... non negotiable.

No one can see far into the future. What we do know is ... that people are unemployed, and people are dying in America because they can't afford food, proper shelter, and affordable and proper health care. What we do know is ... that there is no prosperity for all when there is no Middle Class. What we do know is ... All workers have a right to collectively bargain and be treated fairly; and one of the reasons why, is because that organization/entity cannot survive without them. What we do know is ... trickle down economics doesn't work.

What we do know is .... that the entities, [that caused the collapse of a world's economy, and the destruction of many persons/families livelihoods], and the people who reaped benefits from the collapse of a world's economy, must pay monetary restitution. The world's economy (and the people whose lives they destroyed, and the families that were destroyed) must be made whole. There is no compromise ... it is non negotiable.

There is another word for a centrist ... when the shoe fits ... that word is "coward" ... and/or a person who is not willing to take a strong stand for what is right, ethical, moral (and let's not get into the pro choice/anti choice fight), and good. I've already stated what is non negotiable.

Right now, in this place, at this time, ... I need, we need .... people who are willing to take a strong stand. To fight back against the insanity that is taking place in the "peoples chamber" in Washington and across this nation. I want fighters, not peace keepers, to say, "you will not destroy any more lives, ... that there are some things that are non negotiable and worth fighting for, ... and I will not you hear me, ... will not back down". I want them to take an unshakable stand, place the blame where it should be, ... demand that those responsible for the destruction, the carnage, and those who reaped the benefits from it, to make us whole.

In other words, ... I want a progressive. (1)

THE REPUBLICAN PARTY - DESTROYERS OF THE AMERICAN DREAM

I don't know why anyone is surprised by what Republicans are doing across this nation. [Destroying what's left of the Middle Class.] The Republicans have never been about job creation. They always side with deregulation and big business (who outsource jobs, and want to cut labor costs, while making sure their CEOs and top executives have great compensation packages).

As far as small business is concerned ... How can you be in the pockets of big business and support small business at the same time. YOU CAN'T! Big Business will swallow small business whole, and spit out what's left of small business, leaving them with a decimated Middle Class, and a low wage population to do business with.

Hey, you voted for them, or you just didn't show up to vote at all. Now, this is your punishment ... unfortunately, you've sucked the rest of us into your misery.

The majority of Republicans (and many conservatives) have shown they care very little about students/public education/teachers, older people, health care, women and women's rights; and they care very, very little about the working class, the Middle Class and the poor.

Conservatives tanked the economy, they've never addressed or wanted to address the decline or stagnation in wages; and one of their biggest concerns in regards to education, is to make sure people don't have access to good and truthful information. Hell, why would they want a free an open Internet where people can find out what their goons are up to?

Conservatives love to rewrite history, and they are perfectly happy with making Americans fear Muslims, while they march us into the incinerator of an Orwellian society (where there are essentially only 2 [I said "essentially"] classes of people - those that have [a very small group], and those that don't have [the larger group]).

Who are they banking on to get them into the White House in 2012? Well, ... it's not women, students, the poor, minorities, or the 50-60% of the population that has some modicum of intelligence.

Oh yeah ... union members, please don't strike and give these annihilators any ammunition to speed up their agenda to privatize every freaking thing they can get away with. Remember, Republicans know full well that if you privatize and strip workers of their collective bargaining rights, the average worker will have absolutely no one with any kind of power to go to bat for them. AND I DO MEAN NO ONE! Then watch out, ... "George Orwell's 1984" will be here faster than anyone can predict. We're already about half way there (for some, they're already there).

[TO BE EDITED FURTHER]

Did anyone see [kiss the Heritage Foundation] Mark Tapscott on Dylan Ratigan today (March 10, 2011)?

He smirked and mocked hard working Americans ...
After his remarks, there was no question that this guy marches in lock step with his party. You know, ... the party that is out to destroy what's left of the Middle Class.

What happened to your journalistic integrity ... huh Mark? Guess you lost your mind along with your fellow brethren at the Heritage Foundation.

[Couldn't help notice that the Examiner happened to stroll over to this post to see what I had to say about one of their own]

WALL STREET GETS A WAKE UP CALL

On July 31, 2009, I read an article titled “House Votes To Restrict Wall Street Pay” by ANNE FLAHERTY
-
I then saw the following comment:
-
“The clowns in Washington have no authority to dictate wages in the private sector. The public is outraged because these same Washington clowns robbed the U.S. treasury to make sure that a bunch of billionaires didn't suffer market losses. If there was no taxpayer bailout of private corporations, then nobody would care what these stupid corporations were paying their employees.”
-
My reply to that comment:
-
The government does have authority to dictate wages in the private sector. It's called the minimum wage.
-
Let's get some things straight. This economy prospers when you have a strong Middle Class. The Middle Class spends more than it saves. Spending stimulates the economy. If all the labor costs are concentrated at the top, then the economy suffers. The top saves more than it spends. Savings/investments are good because that money goes towards investing in new business/
research/business expansion, etc. You want to maintain a healthy balance between spending and investing. Since it is governments duty to make sure this "so called capitalistic system" remains viable, then they are obligated to regulate accordingly. Is this a tricky thing to accomplish? Yep!
-
2% of the population now control 80% of the wealth in this country. This is not a healthy thing for our economy or any economy. Right now, the deck is stacked against the Middle Class because Wall Street was allowed to run wild and big business had practices that were corrupt and harmful to the public. Go on over to the PBS website and click on the tab "expose". You'll get a flavor of what happens when you allow big business and Wall Street to go unchecked.
-
You can not sustain a growing economy when "too big to fail" businesses go unregulated and the ratio of spending to savings (plus throw in debt) get out of balance.

HAS HOWDY DOODY LEFT THE BUILDING?

When Bush became President, I called my mother and told her that I thought the American people had elected “Howdy Doody” … yep, that’s right, you heard what I said … I said that the American people had elected a puppet.

Well, we now know that to be somewhat true. He was groomed for his role.*

Dick Cheney and George W. Bush however, we're co-presidents.**

**[Update 2010: Note: Shirley Anne Warshaw (Professor Political Science, Gettysburg College) did extensive research ... She called Bush and Cheney Co-Presidents.
-
C-SPAN had Professor Warshaw on their program as a political science guest panelist discussing her research and at that time soon to be released book (originally aired November 22, 2008, and again 2009) ... I forgot to update this post]. Click HERE for the C-SPAN video.

Fast forward, the American people fed up with the Bush/Cheney regime … were wooed by CHANGE and thought with the election of Barack Obama they got change.

Did we just get a "Howdy Doody"; is this the Obama/Emanuel administration with Rahm [or Geithner] being the person running the financial/business arm of the administration (just like Cheney)? How about who is running the social arm of the administration … who could that be? What about Commander in Chief ... we know it's the President, but who is whispering in the President's ear (the CIA perhaps)?

The American people hate Wall Street … that is not a small number of Americans, it’s most Americans. They are tired of living off refi’s and credit cards in order to live. So, instead of letting that old guard die, we reengage the status quo, give lip service to reform, and that’s it; and get this … the American people [who hate Wall Street] helped them; well, … not really, … we had no choice.

It will be interesting to see if GM CEO pick, Edward Whitacre Jr. [former "old-school" AT&T executive, innovator and engineer] will turn GM into just a hybrid car producer, or will he diversify into something more innovative and a game-changer ... hi-speed rail, wind turbines and solar products. Most important, will the worker be the majority or near majority owner (the union workers), or will the rich and powerful get away with screwing the American Middle Class worker one more time).
-
The vast majority of young people, our future leaders, voted for CHANGE. These young people grew up not caring if you’re African American, Asian, Caucasian or whatever (well, there still is tension between "street Hispanics" and "street Blacks"). These young people could care less if you’re Gay or straight or Gays getting married (and for that matter, most Americans could care less if you’re Gay or straight; and I believe, most Americans don't care if Gays marry or serve openly in the military). So what does the social arm of the administration do? They defend the marriage act … yep, they defend "DOMA" and don't undo "DON'T ASK, DON'T TELL".

OBAMA’S DOMA DEFENSE UNACCEPTABLE by Paul Hogarth

Everyone in the world knows that the Bush/Cheney administration detained people indefinitely, in secret and tortured. The pictures, letters, etc have been around since 2003. We became a pariah and we helped the extremists recruit. So, what does the Obama/Rahm/Holder administration do … yep, they do a cover-up of the crooks … the very crooks that the world spit upon, that the world, and now most of the American people, abhor and want brought to justice.

Maybe I'm misreading everything. Could there be something different brewing beneath what appears apparent? Maybe President Obama is making it look like he's business as usual with a liberal twist every now and then, or again I ask ... is there just the appearance of business as usual, and is his true CHANGE agenda coming soon? Maybe he just wants to get through HEALTH CARE REFORM first. Should we give him the benefit of the doubt?
-
Is this the time to show who is boss? Is it Rahm, Holder or whoever, or is it President Obama? Just who is running the show ... or should we wait a while longer for "the benefit of the doubt"?

A NEW BUSINESS MODEL - EMPLOYEES OWNING BIG BUSINESS AND REPUBLICANS PLAN TO STOP IT

The doom and gloom about the Middle Class would definitely be a reality under a Republican Administration. As you noticed, every single Republican in Congress voted against the Recovery and Reinvestment Act, as did all but three brave Republican members of the Senate (Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins and Arlen Specter).

Well, the Recovery and Reinvestment Act specifically addresses the low and middle income. The Middle Class Task Force is working hard to bring GREEN jobs to that sector.

I’ve seen what is going on behind the scenes. Yesterday I was on a conference call that talked about all the projects and training projects going on across the country.

The President didn’t make Van Jones “Green Jobs” adviser for nothing. I would check out “Green for All”.

The other thing, and I know Republicans are dead set against this; unions are not going away. They are the bedrock of the Middle Class and they are here to stay, I hope so under President Obama.

Union workers make more and they did indeed help create a strong Middle Class.
Expect to see GREEN jobs with a strong union component.

The best thing about GM’s bankruptcy was that now, the UAW and Americans own a stake in GM. It has always been my dream for the employees to own the business. This is now becoming a reality. Again, this is something that Republicans are 100% against.

They talk small business, but they never talked about the employees having an ownership stake in big business.

President Obama has done that. GM is not dead. Michael Moore and President Obama talked about hi-speed transit. I see GM being at the center of this move. That will make a lot of union workers and middle Americans very happy; as, I believe, high speed rail can not get done without unions being involved.

So naysayers and the Republican Party … be very afraid cause a new day has come; and the bottom is now going to the top. A flip flop and its definitely a new business model.
-
This new business model will spread across the world (I hope), ... new GM plants (with employees owning a stake in big business, or owning big business) will transform America and poorer countries who adopt the model and focus on hi-speed rail energizing their economies.
-
Henry Ford's cars helped build a strong Middle Class. Hi-Speed transit can bring it back.
-
The one thing we cannot allow is for the Republicans in the Congress and the Senate (and the Republican Party) and a few small minded Democrats to block the Employee Free Choice Act and ACESA

SUPPORT THE PRESIDENT'S BUDGET

It's time people! I thought those guys in Washington had abandoned the Working Class/Middle Class. It appears that the President hasn't. The President is asking us to stand behind him and urge our representatives to vote for his budget.
-
Call or email your representatives and tell them to vote for the President's budget.
-
-
Let them know if they don't vote for it, you may not vote them back into office.

Please turn off/pause music player to the right of the page before starting this video.
