THE REPUBLICAN PARTY - DESTROYERS OF THE AMERICAN DREAM

I don't know why anyone is surprised by what Republicans are doing across this nation. [Destroying what's left of the Middle Class.] The Republicans have never been about job creation. They always side with deregulation and big business (who outsource jobs, and want to cut labor costs, while making sure their CEOs and top executives have great compensation packages).

As far as small business is concerned ... How can you be in the pockets of big business and support small business at the same time. YOU CAN'T! Big Business will swallow small business whole, and spit out what's left of small business, leaving them with a decimated Middle Class, and a low wage population to do business with.

Hey, you voted for them, or you just didn't show up to vote at all. Now, this is your punishment ... unfortunately, you've sucked the rest of us into your misery.

The majority of Republicans (and many conservatives) have shown they care very little about students/public education/teachers, older people, health care, women and women's rights; and they care very, very little about the working class, the Middle Class and the poor.

Conservatives tanked the economy, they've never addressed or wanted to address the decline or stagnation in wages; and one of their biggest concerns in regards to education, is to make sure people don't have access to good and truthful information. Hell, why would they want a free an open Internet where people can find out what their goons are up to?

Conservatives love to rewrite history, and they are perfectly happy with making Americans fear Muslims, while they march us into the incinerator of an Orwellian society (where there are essentially only 2 [I said "essentially"] classes of people - those that have [a very small group], and those that don't have [the larger group]).

Who are they banking on to get them into the White House in 2012? Well, ... it's not women, students, the poor, minorities, or the 50-60% of the population that has some modicum of intelligence.

Oh yeah ... union members, please don't strike and give these annihilators any ammunition to speed up their agenda to privatize every freaking thing they can get away with. Remember, Republicans know full well that if you privatize and strip workers of their collective bargaining rights, the average worker will have absolutely no one with any kind of power to go to bat for them. AND I DO MEAN NO ONE! Then watch out, ... "George Orwell's 1984" will be here faster than anyone can predict. We're already about half way there (for some, they're already there).

[TO BE EDITED FURTHER]

Did anyone see [kiss the Heritage Foundation] Mark Tapscott on Dylan Ratigan today (March 10, 2011)?

He smirked and mocked hard working Americans ...
After his remarks, there was no question that this guy marches in lock step with his party. You know, ... the party that is out to destroy what's left of the Middle Class.

What happened to your journalistic integrity ... huh Mark? Guess you lost your mind along with your fellow brethren at the Heritage Foundation.

[Couldn't help notice that the Examiner happened to stroll over to this post to see what I had to say about one of their own]

LADIES GUESS WHAT? YOU'RE BEING LAID-OFF, AND YOUR RIGHTS ARE BEING TAKEN AWAY

Wouldn't you know it. Women are suffering the most under conservative's budget cuts and social agenda (in federal and state legislatures). Is this what you voted for?

From the Columbus Dispatch:

"Women left far behind as new jobs arrive; analysts say recession had hit men harder

Tuesday, February 22, 2011 02:50 AM

McCLATCHY NEWSPAPERS

WASHINGTON - The early stages of the economic recovery have taken on a decidedly masculine tone.
It was job gains by men that fueled January's steep decline in the national unemployment rate from 9.4 percent to 9 percent.
In fact, men have gained 438,000 jobs since the Great Recession officially ended in June 2009, while women have lost 366,000 over the same period, according to Labor Department figures.
And the 984,000 jobs created from January 2010 to January 2011? Only 47,000 went to women.
That's less than 1 of every 20 new job openings.
These numbers would barely draw a second look in the aftermath of past recessions, when women made up a much smaller share of the labor force. But women now account for nearly half of all U.S. workers, so the great disparity is all the more startling.
The trend has given a new gender-specific meaning to the phrase jobless recovery and is further proof that the hiring rebound isn't reaching all groups.
"The improvements in the overall employment picture obscure what's happening to women. In fact, women have lost ground since the recovery began," said a recent statement by Nancy Duff Campbell, co-president of the National Women's Law Center.
However, some observers say the one-sided jobs picture is more about economic justice than gender bias.
The Great Recession has been called the "mancession" because men absorbed 7 of 10 job losses during the downturn.
Male-dominated industries such as manufacturing, transportation and wholesale trade lost millions of jobs. Even in fields in which men weren't a majority of workers, they still got hit harder, said Heather Boushey, senior economist at the Center for American Progress, a liberal research group.
So as these and other industries slowly rebound, Boushey said it's hardly a surprise that men have landed more than 95 percent of new jobs in the recovery - or "mancovery," as it's playing out.
"If I get hit harder than you do, it does make sense that my recovery should be more dramatic. That's just logical," Boushey said. "The way this recession played out, there was this gendered impact across a wide variety of industries, and I think that's what you're seeing coming back."
After largely avoiding much of the job jeopardy that men faced, women are now enduring some belated suffering.
Education, health care and state and local government fueled women's job opportunities during the recession. But because women make up nearly 60 percent of government workers, they've felt the brunt of recent layoffs at the state and local level.
During the past year, women lost 202,000 government jobs, or 4 out of 5 that were eliminated nationwide.
"A lot of teachers were laid off," Boushey said. "A lot of child-care workers were laid off. A lot of local-administrator types were laid off. Those are disproportionately women's jobs."
As protests over state budget cuts continue in Wisconsin, other states such as Iowa and Ohio are pondering similar measures that could affect mostly women.
"If states and localities are forced to make additional cuts in critical public services, women may fall even further behind," said Campbell, of the National Women's Law Center."

"Why Should You Care about Planned Parenthood?

How defunding Planned Parenthood could affect you:
  • 4.7 million Americans may lose access to reproductive and family planning care, particularly middle- and low-income women.

  • If you don’t have insurance, you may have to pay for a doctor’s visit to receive a prescription for birth control and pay full price at the pharmacy for it.

  • Be careful! Without easily available screenings, counseling and treatment, the transmission of STDs and HIV may rise.

  • Your daughter, niece, or younger cousin (and her boyfriend) may lose their safe, confidential, and free place to receive counseling, birth control, and testing.

  • If you are low income and/or without insurance, you may have to pay the full price of STD screenings, which can cost $85 to $220 for each type. That doesn’t include the cost of the doctor’s visit, which can be another $200.

  • You will have to visit a private practice for prenatal health care and, if you don’t have insurance, pay full price.

  • Depending on the location, you may lose access to free or reduced cost general services like anemia testing, cholesterol screening, diabetes screening, physical exams, flu vaccines, help with quitting smoking, high blood pressure screening, tetanus vaccines, and thyroid screening.

  • If you are an OB/GYN, your number of patients may increase."

Call, email, fax your senator today to say "no" to defunding Parenthood and Title X programs.

BUSINESS AND JOBS

I read this great article today ("Businesses Do Not Create Jobs", by Dave Johnson, November 11, 2010)
-
AN EXCERPT:
-

"Businesses do not create jobs. In fact, the way our economy is structured the incentive is for businesses to get rid of as many jobs as they can.

Demand Creates Jobs

A job is created when demand for goods or services is greater than the existing ability to provide them. When there is a demand, people will see the need and fill it. Either someone will start filling the demand alone, or form a new business to fill it or an existing provider of the good or service will add employees as needed. (Actually a job can be created by a business, a government, a non-profit organization or just a person doing the job, depending on the nature of the good or service that is required.)

So a demand creates a job. A person who sees that houses on a block need their lawns mowed might go door to door and say they will mow the lawn for $10. When houses start saying "Yes, I need my lawn mowed" a job has been created!

Demand also creates businesses. The person who is filling demand by mowing lawns for people might after a while have a regular circuit of houses that want their lawns mowed every week, and will buy a truck and a new mower and hire someone to help. A business is born!

Businesses Want To Kill Jobs, Not Create Them

Many people wrongly think that businesses create jobs. They see that a job is usually at a business, so they think that therefore the business "created" the job. This thinking leads to wrongheaded ideas like the current one that giving tax cuts to businesses will create jobs, because the businesses will have more money. But an efficiently-run business will already have the right number of employees. When a business sees that more people are coming in the door (demand) than there are employees to serve them, they hire people to serve the customers. When a business sees that not enough people are coming in the door and employees are sitting around reading the newspaper, they lay people off. Businesses want customers, not tax cuts.

Businesses have more incentives to eliminate jobs than to create them. Businesses in our economy exist to create profits, not jobs. This means the incentive is for a business to create as few jobs as possible at the lowest possible cost. They also constantly strive to reduce the number of people they employ by bringing in machines, outsourcing or finding other ways to reduce the payroll. This is called "cutting costs" which leads to higher profits. The same incentive also pushes the business to pay as little as possible when they do hire. (It also pushes businesses to cut worker safety protections, cut product quality, cut customer service, "externalize" costs by polluting, etc.)

This obviously works against the interests of the larger society, which wants lots of good jobs with good pay. And businesses, while working to cut jobs and pay less, need other businesses to hire lots of people and pay well, because that is what creates the demand that makes all the businesses work. ..."

DON'T YOU JUST LOVE THE U.S. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE?

You've lost your job because the company you used to work for is outsourcing labor. You pick up the telephone to talk to someone from the company you used to work for and lo and behold, someone from India takes your call.

Now this is bad enough ... however, get this .... companies in India are donating thousands of dollars to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce (whose members are some of the largest corporations in the world ... who do most of the outsourcing of jobs that used to be your job). The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is supporting Republican candidates because they know the Republican Party loves their members (who are outsourcing what were American jobs).

At the end of the now widely talked about Think Progress article, there is a list of foreign donors who have sent money to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Now tell me how warm and fuzzy you feel towards the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, its members and the Republican Party.

Stop the Chamber!

And the CSC's [Clevelands Secret Club] remarks to the Greater Cleveland Partnership, who is a member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce [and our remarks to the Greater Cleveland Partnership's members]: Look GCP, before you get in bed with someone, check them out.

Hell, the mafia gave money to many charities ... but my God, those charities were taking money from people who had blood on their hands.

The CSC's [Clevelands Secret Club] suggestion is to not do business with any of the
GCP's members or become a shareholder in any of these companies; however, there are a lot of large corporations in their membership that may surprise you. If you presently do business with (or are a shareholder in) one of the GCP's members, you have to do some soul searching and planning on how to either end that business/shareholder relationship or tell them you don't want them to be in bed with the GCP as long as the GCP is in bed with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
-
Apple Inc. withdrew from the
U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Good for them - We love you and applaud you Apple.
-
GCP and your members ... grow a pair and do the right thing. Students who attend Case Western Reserve and Cleveland State should tell the heads (and Boards) of these schools to get out of bed with the GCP unless the GCP gets out of bed with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
-
Everyone, take a really deep look into the investments, associations, and leadership of all the companies and corporations you do business with, or are anticipating doing business with.

Last, don't even think about harassing CSC members and friends. You cannot intimidate us.

BUSH POLICIES CONTINUE UNDER THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION

It is evident that the Obama Administration has chosen the FDR model as a way to deal with the economy. I have no problem with that. Unfortunately, the Obama Administration has made some very poor policy choices.

Let's tackle the banks first. The bank bailout was done to unfreeze the credit market. No problem with that; however, some of the bailout money was given to banks who clearly did not need it [see March 24, 2009 post] and those banks appear to have not sufficiently done their part in unfreezing the credit market; and, in addition, are continuing to support bonuses for doing a poor job [calling them retention bonuses).

The Obama Administration has done nothing to threaten and punish bailout banks that are now actively and negatively trying to influence legislation surrounding the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA). This is a government "of the people, by the people" ...; and not a government of the corporations.
-
-
-

Another Criticism: Why bailout banks and continue subsidizing big farms and food corporations, and not subsidize batteries for hybrid cars before conceivably laying off upwards of millions of auto employees and jeopardizing businesses and their employees who supply parts to auto makers?
-
-
-
This information could be wrong, but I just read that "A number of big national banks stand accused of systematically bilking black and Latino borrowers. And the administration of our first black president is siding with the banks.

At the end of April, the Obama administration will go before the US Supreme Court to argue that those banks—including bailout recipients Bank of America, Citi, Wells Fargo, and JPMorgan Chase—should be allowed to duck a state investigation into their lending practices. If that sounds like the politics of the past, it is. The Obama administration has opted to maintain the stance of the Bush administration—one opposed by the NAACP and other major civil rights groups. And it won't be some Bush holdover making the arguments in Cuomo v. The Clearing House Association (an industry group whose membership includes the world's largest banks).

Instead, the banks will be defended by the office of Obama's new solicitor general, former Harvard Law School dean Elena Kagan." Article by Stephanie Mencimer in Mother Jones.

From democracynow.org

The Obama administration has decided to continue a Bush administration policy of invoking “state secrets” to dismiss a lawsuit accusing a Boeing subsidiary of helping the CIA secretly transport prisoners to torture chambers overseas. On Monday, a San Francisco appeals court heard arguments on the American Civil Liberties Union’s attempt to reinstate the case against Jeppesen International Trip Planning on behalf of five former prisoners. The lawsuit accused Jeppesen of arranging at least seventy flights since 2001 as part of the CIA’s extraordinary rendition program. The Bush administration successfully won the case’s dismissal on the grounds it would risk exposing “state secrets.” On Monday, Obama administration lawyers told judges the government’s stance is unchanged. ACLU Executive Director Anthony Romero said, “The] Justice Department stood up in court today and said that it would continue the Bush policy of invoking state secrets to hide the reprehensible history of torture, rendition and the most grievous human rights violations committed by the American government. This is not change. This is definitely more of the same.”"

FedEx RESORTS TO THREATS TO BLOCK THE EMPLOYEE FREE CHOICE ACT [EFCA]

FedEx has some nerve coming out against the Employee Free Choice Act [EFCA]. Never in my life time have I seen such a concerted effort by corporations to block Unions. What does this tell us? It simply means that big business does not want to pay workers fair wages; and it also says that they presently like their corporate structure where the CEO's and management at the top want to keep their inflated, bloated compensation and bonuses and stock options, while the people who truly make these businesses prosper receive an unfair wage.

If you'd like to voice your opinion about what FedEx is doing (threatening to cancel Boeing jet orders [what amounts to legal extortion] if EFCA is enacted) call FedEx CEO, President and Chairman Frederick W. Smith and tell him you're going to take your business elsewhere if he keeps opposing the Employee Free Choice Act. FedEx is a bully and that kind of business and those kinds of tactics are deplorable.

LABOR LEFT OUT OF THE DISCUSSION

I wasn't going to get on the computer today, but I'm really pissed off. I'm listening to the President of the World Bank, Mr. Robert Zoellick , who was previously managing director of Goldman Sachs and former Vice President of Fannie Mae. During 1999, Zoellick served on a panel that offered Enron executives briefings on economic and political issues. "In the 2000 U.S. presidential election campaign, Zoellick served as a foreign policy advisor to George W. Bush as part of a group, led by Condoleezza Rice, that called itself The Vulcans. James Baker designated him as his second-in-command — "a sort of chief operating officer or chief of staff" — in the 36-day battle over recounting the vote in Florida.[11]" You can read about Zoellick on wikipedia.
-
Mr. Zoellick's past is more than a little scary to me. I heard him on C-SPAN2 this morning. He was talking about the G20 meeting coming up and his conversation turned to the CEO's of major corporations, etc.
-
This is my major criticism of these groups (G8, G20, World Bank, etc.) and most politicians and major corporations; that criticism is that labor is left out of almost every discussion. Labor has virtually no representation at all.
-
Without labor, there is no corporation. What's equally frustrating is that white collar and blue collar labor (management will not be part of these groups) are always at odds. One group thinks it's better than the other group while both groups are getting screwed.
-
There has always been a concerted effort by the power players to keep labor fractured. ALWAYS! God forbid that they join together as a cohesive group around the world asking for an equal share of the wealth. Wise-up labor. You consistently point fingers at the wrong people instead of forming a united front ... a united labor organization. Do you really want to go back to business as usual? Cause that's where we are headed right now!!!!

JOE SCARBOROUGH AND "MORNING JOE" PROGRAM- TOTALLY IRRELEVANT

Joe Scarborough of "Morning Joe" is at it again. What you ask? ... Talking about things he is completely clueless about.
-
He has Congressman John Shadegg on his program and says that Shadegg needs to be a leader in the Republican Party because Shadegg initially came out against the bailout as did many Democrats.
-
Well ya'll, who caved on voting for the bailout? ... yep, John Shadegg.
-
Then he brings out Senator Bayh a moderate Democrat ... a ConservaDem (God help us)... saying moderates are going to reform things [more like obstruct].* Other ConservaDems have been discovered as obstructionists ... Mary Landrieu and Mark Begich.
-
Remember my previous post? I'm pissed! The politicians in the United States of America will cause the WORKING CLASS to disappear with their dribble. Starting with Reagan, we've been seeing a decline in class upward mobility. The politicians whose only concern is getting re-elected have sold out labor.
-
Currently, the United States has the greatest income inequality among developed nations.[84][94]
-
[2006 statistics] The top 1% pays 27.6% of all federal taxes; the top 10% pays 54.7%.[95] Wealth, like income, is highly concentrated: The richest 10% of the adult population possesses 69.8% of the country's household wealth, the second-highest share among developed nations.[96] The top 1% possesses 33.4% of net wealth.[97]; and basically, the top 2% control 80% of the wealth.
-
First you have Republican deregulation, now you've got a bunch of Democratic moderates who say they want to modernize financial regulations [uh uh] and tighten their right-leaning spending belts at the worst time since "The Great Depression".
-
I don't know about ya'll, but I think I'm moving to Denmark. I'll write later.
-
Please turn off/pause music player to the right of this page before viewing video.
About 3 minutes, 59 seconds into this video is where
you will hear Rachel talking about Bayh and the ConservaDems.
This is getting ugly!

THE LABOR MOVEMENT IS ALIVE AND WELL AND GROWING -WATCH OUT MR. STEELE!

The Labor Movement is alive and well and growing all over the world; and they (the people, the worker) have been left out of any dialogue or discussion in the restructuring of the economies of their countries. This does not bode well.
-
Again, the Labor Movement is spreading.
-
Do you think the Republican Party knows? They might not have known before the election; but I bet they do now.
They were absolutely stunned with the election of a Democrat named Barack Obama.

I think it even scared Bill Clinton, champion of corporate globalization (although maybe he’s not so much for it now – don’t know).

The election of Barack Obama definitely horrified the Republican Party, the Party of the “exploitation of the worker” for the benefit of corporate management and the 2% of the population that control a majority of the wealth.

Man, I don’t believe it, but I’m starting to sound like a card carrying member of a labor union.
Look, the corporations have screwed the worker; they’ve been doing it for a long time. It’s gotten so bad that the workers, the little people around the world, are forming labor unions.

I was doing a little research about the differences between Democrats and Republicans (see previous post) when I came upon article after article talking about the growth in labor unions around the world. The Internet has definitely helped their movement. They’re growing across the globe and they’re really fed up with corporate globalization (of which the Republican Party are defenders).

I was shocked to discover that labor unions were growing rapidly in Iraq, Germany, France, China, Egypt, throughout South America, etc.

The corporations have intertwined themselves in the economies of so many countries, that when one of these companies fall, they can cause great damage to the economies of that country and affect the lives of millions of people (most of them lower and middle income people) – the “working class”.

Corporations have controlled or tried to influence foreign policy for a long time; problem is they need someone to help push their agenda. The perfect Party in the United States… the Republican Party, in Britain the Torys, etc. etc. ATT last year was the Republican Party’s biggest contributor. Yes, ATT the ones who are listening to your conversations over the phone, and monitoring your
email, etc
..
http://www.opensecrets.org/orgs/index.php
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NSA_warrantless_surveillance_controversy

There is a growing resentment towards big business and global corporations whose agenda is to make a lot of money for management and their major stockholders (those who own the majority block of shares) who control the majority of the wealth, but only represent 2% of the population. It’s corporate management’s job to pay you as little wage as they can get away with.

That’s why they seek to plop themselves in countries where the people have literally no real power.
They consistently vote for Republican Party candidates; Republican Party -defenders of their way of life.

So the backlash and unrest you see all over the world is that growing resentment towards these companies and their agenda.

The American worker (the low and middle income blue collar and white collar worker) wasn’t totally aware of it when they voted for “CHANGE”; but, they were really voting for the labor movement.

Look, when you lose your job or see your paycheck shrink who do you blame? When you lose your home, your pensions, your health care (or have no health care) who do you blame? When you can’t afford to send your child to college or trade school to be educated to get/compete for a job or be a self-employed professional whatever (so they can earn a good wage or salary), who do you blame?

The election of Michael Steele (RNC chairman) is no accident? The more moderate members of the Party who wanted to re-energize the party and take back the power from Democrats thought an African American could weaken Barack Obama’s power (the power of the “working class”); however, the person chosen must be a champion of corporate globalization. Well, Michael Steele is definitely a champion of big business and corporate globalization. Read his biography on Wikipedia.

Yes, the Republican Party is scared that their Party is weakened and that means big business is weakened, that the people who control the corporations and the majority stockholders are weakened; but guys, they no longer control the government. The “Working Class” (blue and white collar labor) and a few upper class moderate Republicans made the decision to embrace the people’s movement (the labor movement).

The Huffington Post captured a conversation by some bailout recipients talking about how they were going to defeat labor bill.

-
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/

President Obama’s pick of Treasury Secretary is a little scary. His friends are those guys who have 40% to 50% of the wealth, but only represent 2% of the population. Heck, Geithner's replacement came from Goldman Sachs

Now their argument for having that 40% to 50% is that they work harder or have sacrificed or gotten advanced degrees. I’m not going to take that away from them although I’m going to challenge them on the “work harder”; and, shouldn’t you be pursuing a career not because of the money, but because it is your passion?

Well, we can debate that later. What is important is that the “Working Class/Middle Class” drives this country. When you erode it, you cause governments to topple and economies to go to hell … so who is really worth more, and who is more important, and who should possess more of the wealth?

Here I go sounding like a “Socialist”; however, Abraham Lincoln (who the President admires) at his Gettysburg address said these radical words: “Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”
http://showcase.netins.net/web/creative/lincoln/speeches/gettysburg.htm
Gettysburg address/Abraham Lincoln

Why wouldn’t the Republican Party (again, defenders of big business –corporate globalization) want to make government smaller? It’s in their best interest.

I think the reason I didn’t want Geithner having an input into how the TARP money should be used is that his buddies are those very people who seek to exploit labor. Can you really trust him with our “TARP” money? Hell no.
"Working Class" people (and all people), those people who have lost their jobs especially, stop killing your neighbors, friends, family and stealing from them. Instead, organize a non-violent labor movement.

My suggestion to us/the government: (you’ve got to do this quickly or Geithner is going to draft a plan fast to make sure his buddies keep their 40% to 50%+ of the wealth).

1. Demand that that TARP money is given to the workers who would then buy the company or have a controlling interest in it.

2. After the workers get control of the money, the workers would form their own business structure; and they hire managers from within their own ranks, or if they hired outside their company, all workers would have a choice in the pick and determine his/her salary.

3. Whatever decisions that are made, should be to benefit the worker.

I really need help here people. Post your comments and call your representatives and the President.
By the way, the "Working Class" loves business, just not the businesses I described.
